Key Responsibilities:
- Lead design, development, and testing of electrical systems for high-altitude balloons.
- Custom battery pack development, BMS design, and UN testing
- Take ownership of PCB design, schematic capture, layout reviews, and vendor interactions.
- Develop and execute comprehensive test plans to validate hardware performance and reliability.
- Guide hands-on build-up and modification of boards for rapid iteration and prototyping.
- Oversee integration of electrical systems with mechanical and firmware subsystems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues across development, integration, and flight operations.
- Document designs, processes, and results to maintain traceability and knowledge sharing.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 5-8 years of experience in electrical system design, prototyping, and testing.
- Proficiency with PCB design tools (e.g., Altium).
- Strong understanding of analog and digital circuit design.
- Experience with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, spectrum analyzers, etc.).
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Nice-to-Haves / Preferred Skills:
- Experience with aerospace or high-reliability systems.
- Experience managing RF interference and cross-talk between electronic subsystems.
- Experience with battery pack design, integration, and management systems (e.g., BQ configuration).
- Experience with environmental testing (thermal, vibration, vacuum, etc.).
- Background in rapid prototyping and small-team hardware development.
- Familiarity with embedded systems, firmware development, or FPGA programming.
