Position Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join their Billings, Montana office. This is an excellent contract-to-hire opportunity for an accomplished engineering professional who is passionate about leading electrical engineering teams and delivering high-quality solutions for complex industrial projects.
In this leadership role, you will provide advanced electrical engineering expertise while overseeing project execution across a diverse portfolio of oil, gas, and chemical industry projects. You will mentor engineers and designers, drive technical excellence, and ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of electrical engineers and designers across multiple industrial projects.
- Plan, organize, and direct electrical engineering activities from project conception through completion.
- Ensure engineering deliverables meet quality standards, regulatory requirements, and project schedules.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, clients, and multidisciplinary engineering teams to achieve project objectives.
- Serve as the electrical engineering lead on assigned projects and provide technical guidance to other lead engineers.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through consistent communication and high-quality project delivery.
- Prepare progress reports, participate in project meetings, and ensure compliance with project review and quality assurance procedures.
- Manage project scope and support change management processes.
- Support procurement, construction, and commissioning activities by preparing equipment requisitions, performing technical bid evaluations, and reviewing purchase documentation.
- Review and oversee electrical engineering designs, calculations, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Resolve technical issues and provide practical engineering solutions throughout project execution.
- Promote collaboration, professional development, and continuous improvement within the engineering team.
- Stay current with evolving electrical engineering technologies, industry standards, and best practices.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
- Minimum of 8 years of electrical engineering experience within the oil & gas, chemical, petrochemical, energy, or related industrial sectors.
- Strong experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and complex industrial projects.
- Extensive knowledge of medium-voltage (MV) and low-voltage (LV) electrical distribution system design.
- Experience with:
- Electrical equipment selection
- Protective relay selection and coordination
- Power management systems
- Interface management
- Power system studies
- Protective device settings
- Strong understanding of applicable electrical codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and electrical engineering software such as ETAP and SPL.
- Excellent written, verbal, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a strong focus on quality and client satisfaction.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Master's degree or additional postgraduate education in engineering, project management, or leadership.
- Experience leading engineering teams within EPC or industrial facility environments.
- Experience supporting procurement, construction, and commissioning activities.
