Senior Drafter - Tile And Stone Construction (On-Site)

Job Overview

The Senior Drafter will be responsible for preparing detailed technical drawings and plans for tile and stone installation in residential, commercial, and industrial projects. This role involves coordinating with project managers, field teams, fabrication team, showroom team, and contractors to ensure accurate, timely, and high-quality drawings that comply with construction standards and design specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Create detailed, accurate, and clear technical drawings of tile and stone layouts, including floor plans, wall designs, and elevation views, using AutoCAD, Revit, or other design software.
• Coordinate with project managers, field teams, fabrication team, and showroom team to review and refine project specifications and drawings.
• Ensure designs adhere to project requirements, building codes, industry standards, and tile and stone material specifications.
• Provide drafting support during the construction phase, including updating drawings as necessary based on-site conditions or changes in design.
• Work with estimators to support the preparation of material take-offs and cost estimates.
• Ensure the integration of tile and stone materials with other aspects of the building design, such as plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems.
• Review contractor submittals to ensure they meet project specifications and design standards.
• Prepare and manage as-built drawings, documenting approved changes or deviations from the original plans during construction.
• Ensure drawings are completed within project timelines and maintain organized records of drawing revisions and updates.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in drafting, architecture, or related field; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in drafting, preferably with tile, stone, construction, or architectural finishes.
• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD is required.
• Experience with Revit or other industry-standard drafting and design software.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and building codes related to tile and stone installation.
• Experience working with contractors, designers, project managers, field teams, fabrication teams, and showroom teams.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to create precise technical drawings.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Knowledge of 3D modeling software such as SketchUp or Rhino is a plus.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with residential and commercial construction projects, including large-scale or high-traffic facilities.
• Experience in stone cutting, tile setting, fabrication, and stone installation methods.
• Certification or formal training in CAD or related drafting programs.
• Experience with sustainable or eco-friendly materials and practices.

Work Environment

• Works primarily in an office environment with occasional travel to job sites, showrooms, or fabrication facilities to verify field conditions, dimensions, and design implementation.
• Collaboration with project managers, field teams, fabrication, showroom, contractors, and other project stakeholders in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• May work in active construction environments with exposure to uneven surfaces, dust, noise, and varying temperatures. Appropriate PPE may be required.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent sitting and computer work, with regular walking, standing, bending, twisting, and reaching.
• Ability to occasionally lift and carry materials, samples, drawings, or equipment weighing up to 30 lbs.
• Ability to visually review detailed drawings, dimensions, specifications, and computer-generated designs with accuracy.
