Reporting to the SVP / Business Leader, the Sr. Director, Product Line Manager will serve as the strategic commercial leader for the Onion &Garlic business. The role is responsible for developing the commercial direction of the business and translating market, customer, portfolio and financial insights into clear recommendations on where to grow, where to compete, how to price, which products and customers to prioritize, and where commercial resources and investment should be directed.
The Sr. Director is accountable for the development, alignment and execution of the commercial strategy and for driving the commercial levers that improve revenue quality, gross margin, portfolio profitability and long-term growth. The leader will partner closely with Sales, Marketing, Agriculture, Operations, Finance, Quality, Planning, Customer Service and Innovation to ensure commercial choices are fact-based, executable and aligned with business priorities.
The ideal candidate will be a highly commercial, analytical and influential leader who can synthesize market, customer, operational and financial information into data-backed recommendations and drive alignment across functions.
What You’ll Do - Position Responsibilities:
• Commercial Strategy and Direction: Lead development of the Onion & Garlic commercial strategy, including market priorities, customer and channel segmentation, growth platforms, competitive positioning and the strategic choices required to deliver sustainable profitable growth.
• Portfolio Strategy & Management: Own the strategic direction of the product portfolio, including portfolio segmentation, product positioning, lifecycle management, mix optimization and SKU rationalization. Recommend where the business should invest, maintain, reposition or exit.
• Pricing & Margin Strategy: Lead pricing strategy in partnership with Sales and Finance, including price architecture, value-based pricing, margin targets, pricing realization and actions to address margin leakage.
• Market & Competitive Intelligence: Develop a fact-based view of market dynamics, customer needs, competitive activity and emerging trends. Translate insights into actionable recommendations for the leadership team.
• Customer & Product Profitability: Partner with Finance and Sales to evaluate customer, channel and product profitability and recommend actions to improve mix, commercial terms, resource allocation and value creation.
• Growth Strategy: Identify and prioritize organic growth opportunities, white-space markets, strategic customers, portfolio expansion opportunities and other growth platforms consistent with O&G strategy.
• Innovation & Commercialization Priorities: Define the commercial priorities for innovation and renovation. Partner with Marketing, Sales, Innovation/R&D, Operations and Quality to prioritize opportunities based on customer need, market attractiveness, strategic fit, operational feasibility and financial return.
• Long-Range Commercial Planning: Lead commercial inputs to the annual operating plan and multi-year strategic plan, including market assumptions, portfolio priorities, pricing, demand outlook, growth initiatives and commercial investment requirements.
• Commercial Performance Leadership: Drive the commercial components of business performance, partnering with Sales and Finance to translate P&L results into actions related to revenue, pricing, mix, customer and product profitability and growth..
• Strategic Recommendations: Bring clear, data-backed recommendations to the O&G leadership team. Frame alternatives, risks, financial implications and trade-offs, and recommend a course of action rather than simply reporting business conditions.
• Cross-Functional Alignment: Create alignment across Sales, Marketing, Agriculture, Operations, Finance, Quality, Planning, Customer Service and Innovation so that commercial priorities are understood, resourced and executed consistently.
• Sales Partnership: Establish commercial direction and strategic priorities in partnership with the Sales leader. Sales retains accountability for customer relationships, account execution, pipeline management, negotiations and revenue delivery.
• Performance Management: Establish commercial KPIs and operating rhythms to measure strategy execution, identify performance gaps and drive corrective actions with accountable functional leaders.
• Leadership & Influence: Act as an enterprise leader, challenging assumptions constructively, facilitating difficult trade-offs and building commitment to commercial priorities across functions without relying solely on direct reporting authority.
Experience You’ll Bring – Role Requirements:

• 10+ years of progressive experience in commercial strategy, product/portfolio management, general management, sales strategy, finance or a related business leadership role is required; food, beverage, ingredients or agricultural experience strongly preferred.
