Position Summary:

The Senior Director of Nursing Practice, having broad expertise in the delivery of professional nursing practice, will coordinate the development, implementation, and evaluation of local and system collaborative governance structures, policies, and standards of practice to elevate the professional nursing practice and to improve nursing engagement and patient care quality and safety outcomes. Using evidence-based practices, the Senior Director will develop, implement and evaluate programs that foster a healthy work environment and support our journey to Magnet designation.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Directs the development, evaluation, and standardization of all nursing policies, procedures, and practice standards in all practice settings across the entire care continuum. Uses critical thinking and analytical skills, including the integration of the best available into practice and generating new knowledge through scientific inquiry and research
  • Analyzes system issues, trends, and supporting data to understand needs and validate practice gaps across the continuum
  • Partners with quality and safety teams to ensure regulatory compliance, development of best practices, and implementation of standard work for key quality performance indicators across the nursing division
  • Facilitates the development, implementation, and evaluation of local and system collaborative governance structures that support the autonomy and empowerment of nurses.
  • Supports the organization's journey to Magnet designation

Qualifications

  • Bachelor''s Degree and Master''s Degree is required. One degree must be in nursing
  • Three plus years of progressive leadership is required
  • Five plus years of Nursing Practice and/or Nursing Professional Development experience is required
  • Current license in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut or the ability to obtain
  • Knowledgeable in principles of adult learning theory and capable of creative planning, coordinating, and overseeing education and orientation programs through in-person and on-line methods to maximize learning application of that learning
  • Demonstrated evidence of strong interpersonal and communications skills, effective critical thinking, and the ability to set priorities and manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to lead through influence and boundary span. Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Excellent presentation and group facilitation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible and resilient with changing environments and priorities
  • Ability to manage large system projects, including LEAN, A3, and Six Sigma concepts
