    Senior Director of Construction & Facilities

    Overview

    A highly reputable and growing organization is seeking a Senior Director of Construction & Facilities to lead large-scale construction initiatives and oversee full facilities operations. This is a strategic leadership role responsible for capital project execution, infrastructure planning, and operational performance across a multi-site environment.

    This individual will serve as a key partner to executive leadership, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with long-term organizational goals.


    Position Summary

    The Senior Director of Construction & Facilities is responsible for the oversight of all construction projects and facilities operations. This role leads capital development efforts, drives project execution strategies, ensures regulatory compliance, and implements long-term infrastructure planning.

    The position acts as the primary liaison between executive leadership, project teams, contractors, and external stakeholders ensuring transparency, risk mitigation, and successful delivery of all project milestones.


    Key Responsibilities

    Construction Leadership

    • Lead the execution of all construction and capital improvement projects
    • Oversee daily construction management and scheduling to ensure alignment with design, budget, and timeline
    • Manage project teams, contractors, and vendor relationships
    • Review drawings, specifications, budgets, and cost tracking reports
    • Drive constructability reviews, sequencing strategies, and project planning
    • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations
    • Monitor RFIs, change orders, submittals, and contractor performance
    • Lead project meetings and provide executive-level reporting on progress, risks, and performance
    • Oversee project closeout including punch lists, as-builts, warranties, and final inspections

    Facilities & Operations Oversight

    • Develop and implement long-term facilities and infrastructure strategies
    • Oversee maintenance, security, grounds, and project management functions
    • Establish and enforce SOPs to improve operational efficiency and quality control
    • Manage capital and operating budgets, forecasting, and lifecycle planning
    • Ensure all facilities operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulations
    • Oversee vendor performance and service delivery standards
    • Support unit turnover, renovations, and capital improvement initiatives

    Strategic & Administrative Leadership

    • Partner with leadership on organizational planning and growth initiatives
    • Lead hiring, development, and performance management of facilities and construction teams
    • Implement systems, controls, and reporting tools to improve operational performance
    • Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies
    • Foster cross-functional collaboration and strong external partnerships

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
    • Professional certification or licensure (e.g., CCM, PE, or Registered Architect)
    • 15+ years of experience managing large-scale construction projects ($10M+)
    • 10+ years of leadership experience overseeing construction and/or facilities teams
    • Strong knowledge of construction management, scheduling, cost control, and regulatory compliance

    Preferred

    • Experience working within complex, multi-site or campus-style environments
    • Strong familiarity with permitting and regulatory requirements
    • Experience with capital planning, asset management, and facilities operations
