    About the Opportunity

    Join a rapidly growing, physician-focused healthcare organization that is transforming how care is delivered to Medicare and value-based care populations. This is a highly visible leadership role with direct exposure to executive leadership and the opportunity to build scalable accounting and finance processes within a complex, multi-entity healthcare environment.

    The organization is seeking a Senior Director of Accounting to lead health plan accounting operations, oversee medical expense reserving, and provide strategic financial leadership across a growing risk-bearing healthcare platform.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Own the end-to-end monthly close process for health plan accounting, including:
    • Medical expense reserves and IBNR
    • Revenue recognition and accruals, including risk adjustment (RAF)
    • Capitation accounting
    • Financial reconciliations across multiple payer and risk-sharing arrangements
    • Lead preparation and review of monthly financial reporting packages for executive leadership, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and consistency.
    • Oversee IBNR estimation processes and manage relationships with external actuarial partners.
    • Direct the preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and settlement activities.
    • Ensure SOX compliance and strengthen internal control processes related to financial reporting.
    • Lead external audit activities and serve as the primary accounting contact for auditor inquiries.
    • Partner closely with FP&A, operations, and executive leadership to provide financial insights that support strategic decision-making.
    • Establish and enhance scalable accounting policies, procedures, and financial management processes within a multi-entity environment.
    • Monitor financial performance against organizational goals, identifying risks and opportunities.
    • Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing accounting and finance team.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
    • CPA strongly preferred; Master's degree a plus.
    • 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance leadership experience within healthcare.
    • 3+ years leading accounting or finance teams.
    • Experience within publicly traded organizations and SOX-controlled environments.
    • Strong expertise in:
    • Health plan accounting
    • IBNR and medical expense reserving
    • Risk adjustment revenue (RAF)
    • Capitation accounting
    • Managed care and value-based care models
    • Global and shared-risk arrangements
    • Multi-entity financial reporting
    • Experience working with external auditors and actuarial partners.
    • Proven ability to lead in a fast-paced, growth-oriented healthcare environment.
