    Job Description

    Location:

    New York, NY

Condé Nast is seeking a strategic, culturally-fluent, creatively-driven and results-oriented  Sr. Director of Marketing to lead marketing strategy for a key account in the beauty sector.

This role will report to the VP, Marketing and will be instrumental in driving revenue growth and client satisfaction through strategic storytelling, innovative marketing programs, and collaborative ideation.

The ideal candidate has demonstrated experience in account management, marketing, and production and the ability to manage end-to-end marketing programs from pitch to delivery.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead end-to-end marketing for a global beauty account as primary remit, with secondary responsibility across additional beauty category clients as capacity allows

    • Own the full client lifecycle from RFP response and pitch development through program activation, optimization, and renewal

    • Serve as the senior client lead and primary point of accountability across both commercial and execution conversations

    • Operate at the intersection of Sales, Editorial, Brand Marketing, Creative, Strategy, and Production: translating client briefs into sold-in programs and sold-in programs into flawlessly executed activations

    Client Leadership

    • Build and steward senior relationships across the client's brand portfolio, including brand leads, global media and content teams, and agency partners

    • Develop deep fluency in the client's brand architecture, category priorities, and global-to-local operating model and use that fluency to anticipate needs and unlock opportunities

    • Serve as a single, consistent point of contact across the lifecycle

    • Lead pitches, kickoffs, weekly status governance, executive check-ins, and post-campaign reviews

    • Navigate the complexity of a global account: multiple brands, multiple markets, multiple stakeholders, often with competing timelines and priorities

    • Own client satisfaction as a measurable outcome: including renewal, organic growth, and reference-ability across the client's brand houses

    Pitch & Proposal Leadership (Pre-Sale)

    • Lead the development of pitches and proposals for incoming RFPs client briefs: owning the response end-to-end from brief intake to final deck

    • Partner with Sales to interrogate the brief, shape strategic direction, and orchestrate input from Editorial, Marketing, Creative, Insights, and Production

    • Translate client objectives into clear, sold-in narratives: ensuring proposals are commercially sound, creatively distinctive, and operationally deliverable

    • Scope work with execution in mind: because this role also owns delivery, what gets sold is what gets shipped

    • Maintain a library of proven beauty-category frameworks, case studies, and proof points; continuously sharpen our category POV and pitch IP

    • Own pitch quality control: tight storylines, accurate scoping, clean financials, and a polished deliverable that reflects the standard of the brands we represent

    Activation Leadership (Post-Sale)

    • Lead post-sale activation of sold programs across editorial, branded content, event, and production: owning timelines, deliverables, and client experience

    • Anticipate risks and surface them early; resolve issues before they reach the client wherever possible

    • Lead program wrap, performance reporting, and renewal conversations, converting strong execution into the next sold-in program

    Internal Stakeholder Management

    • Partner closely with Sales as a true commercial counterpart

    • Navigate editorial sensitivities with fluency: protecting editorial integrity while meeting client and commercial objectives, particularly across beauty titles

    • Escalate thoughtfully and resolve conflict with diplomacy; known internally as someone who makes hard conversations easier

    Operational Excellence

    • Own account financials end-to-end: pitch scoping, SOW adherence, change orders, and margin protection across all activations

    • Manage workflows, status governance, and quality standards across both pitch and activation phases

    • Manage and mentor marketing managers and coordinators supporting the business; set clear expectations and coach for growth

    • Drive process improvements that scale across a complex, always-on global account

    Strategic Contribution

    • Identify organic growth within the account and across beauty clients; lead the development of expansion pitches in partnership with Sales

    • Bring beauty category intelligence: competitive activity, cultural shifts, retail and DTC dynamics back into the organization to sharpen future product development and packaging

    Qualifications

    • 9-12 years of marketing or account management experience, with meaningful time at a top-tier creative, media, or integrated agency, or in a brand-side marketing role serving the beauty category

    • Direct experience on global beauty accounts (e.g., L'Oréal, Estée Lauder Companies, LVMH Beauty, Coty, Shiseido, Unilever Prestige) strongly preferred

    • Demonstrated experience leading pitch and proposal development end-to-end, including briefing, orchestration, and final deliverable ownership

    • Proven ability to operate across the full client lifecycle — pre-sale through post-sale

    • Track record managing complex, multi-market, multi-brand client relationships

    • Fluency across editorial, branded content, social, experiential, and media activations: with a strong grasp of beauty-specific formats and storytelling

    • Experience managing and developing junior talent

    • Exceptional written and verbal communication; polished executive presence with sophisticated brand clients

    • Comfort operating in a matrix environment where editorial independence, commercial goals, and brand objectives must coexist

The expected base salary range for this position is from $150,000 - $165,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including but not limited to relevant skills, training, experience, and education.

In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates may also be eligible to receive discretionary bonus compensation.
