Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Director of Loan Operations & Fulfillment to join a well-established financial institution in Raleigh, NC. This is a highly visible executive leadership role responsible for driving strategy, performance, and operational excellence across the lending organization.

The Senior Director will oversee leaders responsible for multiple areas of lending, including mortgage origination and fulfillment, processing, closing, servicing, collections, and loss mitigation, with additional responsibility across secured and unsecured consumer lending products.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Provide strategic leadership and oversight across end-to-end lending operations.
  2. Lead and develop managers responsible for mortgage origination/fulfillment, processing, closing, servicing, collections, and other lending functions.
  3. Oversee operations supporting mortgage, HELOC, and secured and unsecured consumer lending products.
  4. Develop and execute strategies to improve the client experience, productivity, operational efficiency, quality, and cost.
  5. Identify opportunities to simplify and automate lending processes and workflows.
  6. Establish and monitor KPIs related to production, turnaround times, servicing quality, delinquency, risk, and overall operational performance.
  7. Provide leadership around servicing, collections, default management, and loss mitigation strategies.
  8. Ensure strong operational risk identification, controls, monitoring, and escalation processes.
  9. Partner closely with Risk, Compliance, Legal, Technology, Finance, and other business leaders.
  10. Ensure lending operations comply with applicable federal and state regulations, including RESPA, TILA, HMDA, FDCPA, and other consumer lending requirements.
  11. Provide executive-level reporting regarding operational performance, risk, controls, and regulatory compliance.
  12. Manage key third-party vendor and service-provider relationships.
  13. Lead process improvement, automation, and operational transformation initiatives.
  14. Coach, mentor, and develop managers while building a strong leadership team.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in banking, mortgage, consumer lending, or loan operations.
  • Significant leadership experience within lending operations.
  • Experience leading other managers or functional leaders.
  • Broad understanding of the lending lifecycle rather than experience limited to one specialized area.
  • Strong mortgage operations experience, ideally including origination/fulfillment, processing, closing, and servicing.
  • Experience with additional lending products such as HELOCs, consumer lending, credit cards, or other secured/unsecured products is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of servicing, collections, default management, and/or loss mitigation.
  • Demonstrated success improving operational efficiency, processes, workflows, and customer experience.
  • Experience with automation, technology modernization, or lending transformation initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of lending regulations and operational risk management.
  • Ability to work effectively with executive leadership and cross-functional business partners.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
