    Description

    Sr Director, Global PMO - IT Services needed ASAP for a Direct Hire position hybrid in the greater Columbus / Cincinnati, OH metro area!

    Will begin with 5 days onsite, then transition to a minimum of three days onsite.  Travel will be 15-25% as needed as well as some international

    Position Summary


    The Senior Director, Global PMO leads the strategy, governance, and operational execution of the enterprise Project Management Office for IT Services across all regions and clients. This role is accountable for establishing consistent delivery standards, driving portfolio prioritization aligned to business strategy, and building a high-performing organization of program and project managers. The ideal candidate combines strong executive presence and stakeholder management with deep experience running large, complex, multi-region IT Services portfolios (infrastructure, cloud, field services, and managed services).


    Key Responsibilities

    Strategy & Governance
    • Define and evolve the global PMO operating model, methodology (Agile, Waterfall, hybrid), and governance framework across all IT service lines.
    • Own the IT portfolio management process: intake, prioritization, capacity planning, and investment tracking, ensuring alignment with corporate strategy and budget cycles.
    • Establish and chair steering committees and executive governance forums; deliver portfolio health, risk, and financial reporting to VP of Services and executive leadership.
    • Set and monitor KPIs/OKRs for delivery quality, schedule adherence, cost performance, and value realization across the global portfolio.
    Delivery Leadership
    • Provide oversight and escalation support for large, complex, or at-risk projects across regions and clients.
    • Ensure consistent application of project management standards, tools (e.g. MS Project, ServiceNow SPM, Smartsheet), and templates across all regional teams.
    • Drive resource management and capacity planning across a global, matrixed delivery organization; resolve cross-program resource conflicts.
    • Own vendor governance for outsourced or co-sourced delivery engagements.
    Organizational Leadership
    • Build, mentor, and scale a global team of program/project managers and PMO analysts; establish career paths, certifications (PMP, PgMP, SAFe, PRINCE2), and skills development programs.
    • Lead change management and adoption efforts for new PMO processes, tools, and standards across regions with varying maturity levels.
    • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and data-driven decision-making within the PMO.
    Financial & Vendor Management
    • Manage and track forecast-to-actual spend and driving cost discipline across programs.
    • Partner with Finance and Procurement on business case development, ROI/value tracking, and vendor contract governance.
    Stakeholder & Executive Engagement
    • Serve as a trusted advisor to the VP of Services, business unit leaders, and regional executives on delivery capacity, risk, and prioritization trade-offs.
    • Represent the PMO in board- and executive-level reporting, audits, and compliance reviews (e.g., SOX, ISO, regulatory).


    Required Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (Master's/MBA preferred).
    • 12+ years of progressive IT program/project management experience, including 5+ years in a senior PMO leadership role overseeing global or multi-region portfolios.
    • Proven track record managing large IT services portfolios ($25M+ annual spend) spanning infrastructure, applications, and digital transformation.
    • Demonstrated experience building and leading global, distributed teams across multiple time zones and cultures.
    • Deep expertise in both Agile and traditional delivery methodologies, with hands-on experience standing up or scaling a PMO.
    • Strong command of PPM/PMO tooling (e.g., ServiceNow SPM, Planview, MS Project, Smartsheet).
    • Excellent executive communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills; comfortable presenting to C-level audiences and boards.
    • Experience managing vendor relationships and outsourced delivery models.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • PMP, PgMP, PfMP, SAFe Agilist/SPC, or PRINCE2 certification.
    • Experience in a managed services, IT outsourcing, or shared-services delivery environment.
    • Background supporting large managed IT Lifecycle programs.
    • Familiarity with IT financial management, ITIL, and enterprise risk/compliance frameworks.
    • Experience operating within a matrixed, multinational organization.

    • Establish/refresh unified global PMO governance and reporting cadence across all regions.
    • Achieve target on-time/on-budget delivery rate across the IT portfolio.
    • Implement standardized PPM tooling and reporting dashboards enterprise-wide.
    • Build a bench of regional PMO leads with clear succession plans.
    • Deliver measurable improvement in portfolio prioritization and resource utilization.
