The Senior Director - Automated and Connected Lab Portfolio

The Senior Director - Automated and Connected Lab Portfolio leads the end-to-end product strategy, roadmap, and business performance for Beckman Coulter Life Sciences Automation & Connected Lab portfolio. This includes responsibility for:

• Integrated hardware platforms
• Orchestration and analytics software
• Connectivity and data integration
• The Access Solutions Group, which delivers large-scale custom automation systems for strategic customers.

The Access Solutions Group is responsible for architecting, delivering, and scaling Beckman Coulters large-scale integrated custom automation solutions. This team drives revenue growth by designing high-complexity, enterprise-grade systems that integrate Beckman hardware, scheduling/orchestration software, data interfaces, and third-party technologies into cohesive automated workflows.

This leader owns the long-range portfolio strategy, architectural direction, investment priorities, and commercial outcomes across Beckmans automation and digital ecosystem. The Senior Director will partner closely with R&D, Quality/Regulatory, Operations, Commercial, Service, and Strategic Partners to bring differentiated, compliant, and scalable solutions to market that accelerate throughput, ensure data integrity, and reduce total cost of ownership across modern digital and automated labs.

Our preferred work arrangement is onsite.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

• Own the strategy and roadmap for Access Solutions, defining how Beckman delivers configurable, end-to-end automation systems for high-throughput and GMP environments.
• Lead and develop the Access Solutions team, including product managers, solution architects, and integration specialists.
• Drive revenue and margin performance for large custom automation programs, including solution segmentation, pricing models, and commercial packages.
• Lead cross-functional solution development, partnering with Systems Integration, Engineering, Applications, PMO, Quality/Reg, and Sales to scope and architect integrated customer workflows.
• Establish integration and connectivity standards (APIs, device drivers, data models, cybersecurity requirements) to ensure interoperability and repeatable delivery.
• Oversee complex deal shaping, including feasibility, cost modeling, risk assessments, and customer value justification for multimillion-dollar enterprise automation engagements.
• Build scalable delivery and solution frameworks using modular templates, reusable engineering elements, and structured playbooks to reduce delivery complexity and cycle time.
• Act as executive sponsor for high-impact customer programs, ensuring delivery quality, outcomes, and expansion opportunities.

The essential requirements of the job include:

• 12-15+ years in product management or adjacent roles within life sciences, lab automation, scientific software, or industrial automation.
• 7+ years leading PM teams.
• Track record owning integrated hardware + software portfolios and delivering platform and ecosystem strategies.
• Demonstrated success in regulated environments and enterprise deployments (GxP/Part 11, data integrity, cybersecurity).
• Strong commercial acumen: pricing, portfolio P&L management, and enterprise solution selling.
• Technical fluency in lab automation, robotics, scheduling/orchestration, data platforms, cloud/SaaS, and API-first architectures.
• Bachelors in Engineering, Life Sciences, or related; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:

• Ability to travel - 30% globally per business needs.

The annual salary range for this role is $300,000 - $350,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay. We offer comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees.
