The Role:
Dicom Systems is seeking a hands-on Senior DevOps Engineer with extensive Linux administration experience, strong cloud expertise, and proven ability to develop operational tools and automation. You will own infrastructure supporting Unifier, Engineering, and QA across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments. The role combines production systems administration with software development for infrastructure automation and CI/CD. Deep production experience in AWS, GCP, or Azure is required. You will collaborate with Development, QA, and Integration Support to resolve complex infrastructure issues and make deployments repeatable.
Primary Duties
- Administer, secure, patch, and optimize Linux servers; investigate CPU, memory, disk I/O, filesystem, service, and network problems.
- Manage cloud compute, storage, networking, IAM, and backups; plan capacity and control infrastructure costs.
- Develop maintainable automation and operational tools using Python and Bash, with version control, code review, testing, and error handling.
- Provision infrastructure as code and manage configuration using tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for application builds, automated testing, deployment, and rollback with Development and QA.
- Deploy and operate Unifier environments, virtual machines, containers, databases, and supporting services as required.
- Improve monitoring, centralized logging, alerting, and operational health checks; investigate incidents and implement fixes for underlying causes.
- Maintain access controls, certificates, secrets, backups, and documented recovery procedures; test restoration and failover.
- Support secure API integrations and identity services with Engineering, including deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Maintain runbooks and configuration history in Git; track work, risks, and decisions in Jira and share knowledge with the team.
- Use approved AI-assisted tools to improve automation, troubleshooting, and documentation while protecting confidential information and following company security and HIPAA policies.
Technical Requirements
- Extensive Linux administration experience in production, including systems, processes, logs, packages, permissions, filesystems, storage, security hardening, and performance tuning.
- Demonstrated ownership of production infrastructure in AWS, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Azure, including compute, networking, storage, IAM, and recovery. Additional cloud platforms are a plus.
- Strong Python and Bash skills, with examples of automation, operational tooling, or integrations you personally developed and maintained.
- Strong TCP/IP networking knowledge, including subnetting, routing, DNS, VPNs, firewalls, NAT, TLS, reverse proxies, and load balancing.
- Practical experience with Git, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, configuration management, and container operations.
- Experience with monitoring, alerting, logging, backups, and systematic root cause analysis across applications and infrastructure.
- Ability to independently own work, communicate clearly in English, document technical decisions, and coordinate with remote teams.
Preferred Technical and Domain Experience
- Keycloak experience is a major plus, including implementation, administration, SSO, identity federation, and integrations with OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, or SAML.
- OpenAPI implementation experience is a major plus, including implementing and integrating REST APIs described by OpenAPI, maintaining specifications and Swagger tooling, and validating API contracts in CI/CD.
- Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, PostgreSQL, high-availability systems, VMware or Hyper-V, Docker, or Kubernetes.
- Experience supporting Dicom Systems Unifier, healthcare IT, DICOM, HL7, DICOMweb, PACS, or VNA environments is helpful but not required.
Education and Certifications
A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience. Linux, cloud, security, Terraform, or Kubernetes certifications are a plus; demonstrated hands-on ability is essential.
