Responsibilities:
What you get to do every day:
A Senior DevOps Engineer will drive faster, more reliable software delivery by strengthening the practices, automation and operational discipline that helps teams ship with confidence. This role will bridge development and operations to remove friction, improve collaboration, and ensure releases reach users with less disruption and greater consistency. In addition, the position will enhance observability, monitoring, and incident response to accelerate issue detection and recovery, while also improving system configuration management and documentation to support scalability, resilience, and long-term operational excellence.
Job Duties:
- Configure CI/CD for multiple web applications
- Take source code, dependencies to perform application builds
- Perform automated testing and security scans
- Deploy to multiple environments (Dev, Staging, Operations)
- Responsible for Infrastructure as Code and Configuration Management
- Author helm charts to deploy resources to OpenShift
- Manage and document system security, by performing software updates in response to scan findings, document system, architecture to demonstrate security compliance
- In-depth knowledge, principles, and methods of enterprise solutions
- Eight years of experience designing and implementing complex systems in a classified environment. Experience developing strategic system architecture plans
- Experience in system and network creation and development
- Solid understanding of information processing fundamentals and best practices
- Researches, designs, develops, and/or modifies enterprise-wide cloud solutions and/or applications software
- Designs, develops, codes, tests and debugs highly complex new software products or makes significant enhancements to existing software
- Develops and applies advanced methods, theories, and research techniques in the investigation and solution of complex and advanced software applications and problems
- Resolves highly complex hardware/software compatibility and interface design considerations
- Conducts investigations and tests of considerable complexity
- Factors emerging technologies and product supportability into design and implementation
- Provides input to staff involved in writing and updating technical documentation such as user manuals, system documentation, and training materials
- Advises hardware engineers on machine characteristics that affect software systems, such as storage capacity, processing speed, and input/output requirements
- Prepares reports on analyses, findings, and project progress, and presents results to management and/or customer personnel
Qualifications:
Clearance Required: Active TS clearance (with SCI Eligibility) and eligibility to obtain CI Poly
Certification Required: Technical certification Network +, Security +, CISSP, etc.
Education/Experience:
- Requires Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, systems engineering or any related field/major, or 2 additional years of experience in information technology
- 6+ years of experience
Required Skills:
- Proficiency with Linux operating systems
- Working experience with CI/CD pipelines (Gitlab, Jenkins, CircleCI, or similar)
- Knowledge of OIDC/OAuth/Auth2 or similar zero-trust identity implementations
- Experience with ArgoCD and GitOps style operations management
- Experience with web server management (e.g. DNS, certificate management)
- Knowledge of HTTP API design standards and best practices
- Ability to manage networking for web applications (TCP/IP, DNS, and load balancing)
- Familiarity with Kubernetes and OpenShift, with knowledge of AWS
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (one or more of Terraform, OpenShift Containerized Platform, Cloudformation, AWS CDK, Ansible, Chef, Puppet, etc.)
- Knowledge of including monitoring & logging and network & security for containers
- Experience deploying and managing databases, interacting with DBs via SQL and ORMs
- Comfortable writing Python and BASH to create systems tooling
- Ability to contribute code updates/tweaks to existing code repositories
- Experience with software system design with the ability to create application architecture diagrams for new applications
- Experience integrating security components with applications and databases
What is ideal?
- Familiarity with Configuration Management and Request for Change process for review and assessment
- Experience implementing zero-downtime re-indexing strategies and managing complex Elasticsearch data models (e.g., routing, query-time, de-duplication) within an OpenShift/Kubernetes environment
- Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus, Thanos, Alloy, Loki, Mimir, Tempo, or Grafana
- An understanding of reverse proxies such as Nginx, Traefik or Apache HTTP Server (WebGate), HAProxy, or Envoy.
- Experience with delivery of an integrated solution using Agile software delivery techniques
- Experience in System Engineering and project/program management.
- Intelligence Community Experience preferred

The expected salary range within the Washington, DC metropolitan area is: $154,000-$185,000. Final compensation is unique to each individual and will be determined based on factors such as experience, education, geographic location, and contractual requirements. This is not a guarantee.
