Role: Senior Development Scientist Oral Solid Dose (OSD)
Location: Richmond, VA Onsite
Rate: $40 - $45/hr on W2

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Senior Development Scientist with strong Oral Solid Dose (OSD) formulation experience to lead formulation development, scientific experimentation, scale-up, and process optimization from laboratory through manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead OSD formulation development using Quality by Design (QbD) and material science principles.
• Develop and optimize formulations using Direct Compression, Wet/Dry Granulation, and Continuous Manufacturing.
• Design and execute Design of Experiments (DoE) and establish formulation/process design spaces.
• Evaluate API, excipient, and process parameter interactions.
• Perform root cause analysis and troubleshoot formulation/process issues.
• Characterize materials and blends, including PSD, microscopy, rheology, moisture sorption, compatibility, and compressibility.
• Support scale-up, process development, and technology transfer to manufacturing sites.
• Prepare technical protocols, reports, and CMC Module 3 documentation.
• Collaborate with Analytical, Quality, Regulatory, and Manufacturing teams.
• Present scientific findings and provide technical recommendations to project leadership.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Life Sciences, or related field.
• 5+ years of relevant pharmaceutical development experience.
• Strong experience in OSD formulation and process development.
• Knowledge of QbD, DoE, material characterization, and scale-up.
• Strong scientific problem-solving, data analysis, and communication skills.

Preferred:

• Master's/PhD or equivalent practical experience.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements and drug development/CMC processes.
• Project management and cross-functional collaboration experience.
