Job Overview We are seeking a highly experienced Senior DB2 Database Administrator for a contract assignment supporting the Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) and the District of Columbia Department of Motor Vehicles (DC DMV). This role involves managing the mission-critical Motor Vehicle Information System (DESTINY). This is a remote position, though candidates residing in the DMV area are preferred. Target Annual Salary: $110,544.00 $126,336.00. Key Responsibilities:
Manage, configure, and maintain DB2 databases on mainframe platforms, including installations, upgrades, patches, migrations, and version management.
Monitor system performance, troubleshoot technical issues, and tune DB2 components to ensure high availability and data integrity.
Optimize database queries, stored procedures, packages, and triggers in collaboration with the application development team.
Coordinate with developers to ensure application releases and data model changes are correctly synchronized with database environments.
Enforce database security standards, user access controls, and audit requirements in accordance with government policies.
Ensure compliance with privacy and data protection regulations regarding personal information.
Proactively identify performance bottlenecks and execute tuning for memory pools, indexes, and storage structures.
Collaborate with infrastructure teams regarding server performance, storage, and network connectivity.
Provide technical support and knowledge sharing to district agencies, personnel, and stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
16+ years of experience in database design, documentation, and coding.
16+ years of experience with SQL and report interface implementation.
16+ years of hands-on experience with IBM DB2 (LUW or z/OS).
10+ years of experience with high-availability technologies (HADR, replication, failover, clustering).
10+ years of experience with ETL processes, data mining, data storage, and data warehousing.
