Description

Job Overview We are seeking a highly experienced Senior DB2 Database Administrator for a contract assignment supporting the Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) and the District of Columbia Department of Motor Vehicles (DC DMV). This role involves managing the mission-critical Motor Vehicle Information System (DESTINY). This is a remote position, though candidates residing in the DMV area are preferred.
Target Annual Salary: $110,544.00 $126,336.00.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage, configure, and maintain DB2 databases on mainframe platforms, including installations, upgrades, patches, migrations, and version management.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot technical issues, and tune DB2 components to ensure high availability and data integrity.
  • Optimize database queries, stored procedures, packages, and triggers in collaboration with the application development team.
  • Coordinate with developers to ensure application releases and data model changes are correctly synchronized with database environments.
  • Enforce database security standards, user access controls, and audit requirements in accordance with government policies.
  • Ensure compliance with privacy and data protection regulations regarding personal information.
  • Proactively identify performance bottlenecks and execute tuning for memory pools, indexes, and storage structures.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure teams regarding server performance, storage, and network connectivity.
  • Provide technical support and knowledge sharing to district agencies, personnel, and stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 16+ years of experience in database design, documentation, and coding.
  • 16+ years of experience with SQL and report interface implementation.
  • 16+ years of hands-on experience with IBM DB2 (LUW or z/OS).
  • 10+ years of experience with high-availability technologies (HADR, replication, failover, clustering).
  • 10+ years of experience with ETL processes, data mining, data storage, and data warehousing.
