Objective Area Solutions (OAS) is seeking an experienced Senior Database Programmer to enhance our team. Our ideal candidate will be proficient in database design, optimization, and modernization, with deep expertise in SQL‑based legacy system transformation and sustainment.This role supports the Federal Aviation Administration, which is responsible for ensuring the safety of 45,000 flights and 3 million passengers traversing over 28 million miles of U.S.‑controlled airspace every day. In addition to providing air traffic control and safety oversight for civilian aviation, the FAA also works in lockstep with the Department of Defense and other government agencies to ensure the security of our nation. A key component of that coordination involves the collaborative use of aviation tools and data.Key ResponsibilitiesA successful candidate must have a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience and be proficient in:Conducting database assessments to identify schema inconsistencies, redundant structures, and performance issuesDesigning, refactoring, and optimizing relational database schemas to support modernizationExecuting hands‑on database optimization, tuning, and legacy system stabilizationSupporting configuration management, patching, release management, and CI/CD integrationCollaborating with developers, architects, and security analysts to align database structures with modern frameworksTroubleshooting and resolving database‑related defects across development, testing, and operationsSupporting security authorization documentation, risk assessments, and vulnerability remediationValidating database changes through unit, integration, system, and user acceptance testingCreating and maintaining technical documentation including schemas, data models, change logs, and sustainment proceduresParticipating in Agile ceremonies and supporting traceable, well‑documented release processesRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Engineering, or related discipline 10+ years of relevant database development experienceDemonstrated experience with:Database modeling and schema designDatabase optimization and performance tuningLegacy database assessment and modernizationEnterprise or mission‑critical system supportStrong understanding of:Relational database design principlesData normalization and integrityConfiguration and change managementAbility to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearanceDesired QualificationsExperience supporting the FAA, federal government systems, or aviation safety systemsExperience working within federal architecture constraints and modernization initiativesFamiliarity with Agile methodologiesExperience supporting systems undergoing technology refresh or framework upgradesWork RequirementsWork Environment: Remote within the United States Objective Area Solutions LLC is an Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action Employer.
