    Position Summary
    We are seeking a Senior Database Administrator (Senior DBA) to manage, secure, optimize, and support enterprise database environments that power critical business applications. This role is responsible for ensuring the availability, performance, integrity, and security of enterprise databases while supporting ERP platforms, including Ellucian Banner, and other mission-critical systems.
    The Senior DBA will lead database administration efforts across Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, Azure SQL, and related technologies, driving best practices in performance tuning, backup and recovery, disaster recovery, security, automation, and database architecture.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Administer, monitor, optimize, and secure enterprise database environments to ensure high availability, reliability, and performance.
    • Support and maintain the Banner ERP database environment, including application upgrades, patches, integrations, and data migrations.
    • Manage Oracle Database, Microsoft SQL Server, Azure SQL, and other enterprise database platforms.
    • Develop and maintain backup, recovery, replication, high availability, and disaster recovery strategies.
    • Monitor database performance and proactively identify opportunities for optimization through indexing, query tuning, capacity planning, and automation.
    • Troubleshoot complex database issues across production and non-production environments.
    • Collaborate with application administrators, ERP functional teams, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and third-party vendors to support enterprise systems.
    • Implement and maintain database security controls, encryption, access management, auditing, and compliance with organizational policies and industry best practices.
    • Support enterprise reporting, analytics, data warehouse, and system integration initiatives by maintaining secure and scalable data platforms.
    • Develop and maintain database standards, documentation, operational procedures, and monitoring practices.
    • Evaluate emerging database technologies and recommend improvements that enhance scalability, resilience, security, and operational efficiency.
    • Provide technical leadership and guidance on database architecture, administration, and best practices.

    Required Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
    • 7+ years of progressive database administration experience supporting enterprise applications.
    • Strong experience administering Oracle Database and Microsoft SQL Server.
    • Experience with Azure SQL or other cloud-based database technologies.
    • Demonstrated expertise in:
      • Database performance tuning
      • Backup and recovery
      • High availability and disaster recovery
      • Replication
      • Database security
      • Capacity planning
      • Database monitoring
    • Experience with SQL, T-SQL, PL/SQL, PowerShell, or other scripting and automation tools.
    • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience supporting Ellucian Banner ERP in a higher education or enterprise environment.
    • Experience supporting ERP platforms and enterprise business applications.
    • Experience with enterprise reporting, data warehousing, and ETL processes.
    • Experience working within hybrid cloud environments.
    • Microsoft, Oracle, or cloud database certifications are a plus.
