Senior Data Scientist

Location: Washington, DC (Hybrid)

Duration: 11+ months

Responsibilities:

• Work with stakeholders to clarify analytical needs and identify suitable data sources.
• Translate mission questions into practical analyses or models.
• Explore and assess data, prepare it for analysis, and use SQL, Python, and statistical or machine-learning methods to identify patterns and insights.
• Build, test, and refine analytical workflows in the AWS GovCloud environment.
• Prepare datasets, develop and validate models, and integrate work with existing data pipelines and platforms.
• Document methods, assumptions, results, and model limitations for reproducibility and auditability.
• Participate in project meetings, communicate risks and trade-offs, and recommend practical improvements.

Required Skills:

• 4 years of experience in custom AI training, including supervised and unsupervised learning.
• Expertise in Natural Language Processing (NLP) focusing on unstructured data.
• 5 years of in-depth knowledge of at least one analytical/statistical language (Closure, Scala, Python, R).
• 2 years of experience manipulating unstructured data from different platforms.
• 2 years of experience with data visualization tools such as Elastic X-Pack, Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree required, or equivalent experience and education; data-science education is desirable.
