    Description

    As a Data Software Engineer, you
    will focus on developing the tools and infrastructure to capture, manage and
    manipulate large data sets of reader behavior. Your goal will be to support and
    work with Sr Data Scientist to extract meaning from the data and advise our
    editorial and development teams on the findings. You look to tell a story based
    on your findings to assist in developing the product road map to customize our
    content to better suit our reader. This position will bring analytical rigor and
    statistical methods to the challenges of measuring and understanding the
    behavior of the 40 million+ women that shop and consume content every
    month.

    As a Data Software Engineer, you
    will:

    • Implement and deploy systems for
      measuring and analyzing the performance of the media site and targeted email
      products.
    • Develop new data storage and data
      analysis methods for optimizing content performance, revenue, and
      adoption.
    • Implement new mechanisms for
      modeling and predicting reader behavior.
    • Lead investigations streams of
      content usage and A/B testing. Advise product team on new features and modules
      based on findings.
    • Design and implement experiments
      and models to answer targeted questions.

      Requirements:



    • At least 4 years of hands-on
      experience working with large data sets.
    • Hands on deployment experience with
      Hadoop/Spark, Scala, MySQL, Redshift and Amazon AWS or other cloud base
      systems.
    • Minimum of a BS in a quantitative
      discipline such as Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, Applied
      Mathematics, etc.
    • Demonstrated proficiency in SQL,
      SAS, Matlab, or R.
    • Comfortable writing code in python,
      ruby, perl, or equivalent scripting language.
    • Ability to understand business
      problems, draw conclusions from data and recommend actions on how best to solve
      these problems.
    • Demonstrated
      self-direction.
