Senior Data Engineer / Full Stack Engineer

Location: Remote (EST preferred) | Duration: 12 months (potential for full-time conversion) | Plano, TX (75024), United States

About the Role

Join a high-impact, agile team as a Senior Data Engineer / Full Stack Engineer, designing and building innovative, cloud-native applications and next-generation backend services. You'll collaborate with a lean, expert team to deliver enterprise-scale data solutions, leveraging cutting-edge AWS and big data technologies. This contract offers a path to full-time employment for candidates with a four-year degree.

Responsibilities

• Architect and develop robust cloud-native applications and backend services
• Design and implement low-latency, enterprise-ready GraphQL APIs
• Build, optimize, and maintain scalable data pipelines utilizing AWS and big data tools
• Apply monitoring and observability best practices to ensure system reliability and performance
• Collaborate closely with two full-time engineers and contribute actively to a high-performing team
• Deliver production-ready solutions with a strong focus on reliability and security

Required Skills and Experience

• 10+ years of hands-on software engineering experience
• Deep expertise in application development and data engineering
• Demonstrated proficiency with GraphQL and API development
• Advanced AWS skills, including Lambda, ECS, and Glue
• Strong experience with PySpark, Apache Spark, Snowflake, AWS Glue, and batch processing frameworks
• Working knowledge of DynamoDB and PostgreSQL
• Proven track record in cloud monitoring, observability, and providing production support
• Bachelor's degree required for full-time conversion

Preferred Skills

• Experience in lean, fast-paced engineering environments
• Passion for building scalable, reliable systems from the ground up
