A senior enterprise customer success seat with a small book, no quota, and real advisory work, fully remote from anywhere in the United States.
Why this role is worth your attention
Our client is a well-funded, venture-backed software company whose product replaces a manual process that sits at the center of their customers' operation. That changes what customer success means here: the data the platform produces is what you use to show a customer how to run their business better, so the seat is advisory by design. The contracts are large and multi-year, the enterprise segment is where the company is doubling down, and the hiring manager calls this one of the most important roles they are filling this year.
Who thrives here
- Systems thinkers who ask critical questions instead of defaulting to the first answer
- People who are comfortable being wrong, trying something, and adjusting
- Consultative operators who hold multi-threaded relationships across a client organization, from day-to-day operations up to the C-suite
- Anyone who thinks about AI at the portfolio level, meaning which repeatable, high-impact tasks across every account could be automated, not just which prompt saves an hour
- People who have worn several hats at a smaller company and can work without a finished playbook
This is not the seat for a classic account manager whose value is measured in upsell. Selling is welcome but explicitly not the expectation, and an experienced sales team stays engaged through onboarding.
What you will own
- A small book, roughly three to four enterprise accounts and still being sized. A mature account is a national company worth several million in annual recurring revenue, with multiple business units to serve.
- End to end ownership of the post-sale motion. You are the accountable owner from implementation through steady state, so the client works with one person rather than a chain of handoffs.
- The advisory work itself: using the platform's data to show customers where to change how they run the operation, measured against real business outcomes rather than adoption metrics.
- Quarterly business reviews, backed by an internal report generator, with the expectation that you automate the standardized preparation so your time goes into the conversation.
- Growing pilots into full rollouts across an account, which can take the better part of a year. These customers grow and reorganize constantly, so expansion inside an account is continuous.
- Leading and developing two Customer Success Associates who work like junior and mid-level consultants, preparing the analysis and the decks so you can lead the client relationship.
What makes this different from the seat you are in now
- At most enterprise customer success orgs the market eventually runs dry and you spend years supporting the same book. Here new enterprise brands keep coming aboard, so you bring new logos on and write the playbooks the rest of the team will run.
- This is new headcount, not a backfill. The enterprise team is two people today and this hire makes three.
- You report to a VP of Customer Success who came out of a global consultancy and is rebuilding the function right now. The operating model is being redesigned around the customer success manager as the end to end owner, so you shape it rather than inherit it.
- Roughly 10 to 20% of the role is defining the function itself: what good looks like, repeatable process, and the success metrics behind it.
What we are looking for
- Six or more years owning enterprise customer relationships, with the complexity that comes with them
- Experience running executive business reviews with VP and C-level stakeholders
- Real fluency with data. You prioritize and engage your book off the numbers, not off whoever emailed last.
- A consultative operating style, comfortable telling a client to change how they work
- A track record of operating with real autonomy, which matters more than usual on a fully remote seat
Nice to have
- Experience serving customers in an operations-heavy industry
- A management consulting background, particularly implementation-heavy work rather than pure strategy
- Experience delivering large software implementations such as ERP, HR, CRM, or procurement systems
- Experience mentoring or developing junior team members
The remote setup, stated plainly
- Fully remote. Work from anywhere in the United States, in any US time zone. There is no office requirement.
- Plan on occasional travel to headquarters for team and client time, on the order of once a month. This is a remote job with some travel, not a hybrid job.
- The customer success team is already geographically mixed, so remote is not a first experiment here.
- The bar on this version of the seat is deliberately high. You are being hired to carry an enterprise book from early on, not to be ramped slowly.
Compensation and benefits
- $145,000 to $175,000 on-target cash, the majority of it base
- Equity for every full-time employee
- Health coverage, flexible paid time off, retirement plan matching, and wellness perks
- Sponsorship is not available for this role
