Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers our cloud services. As a Senior Critical Environment Battery Monitoring System Engineer you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsofts online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. Responsibilities

Governance and standardization:

  • Act as a technical resource during global BMS deployments, providing expert troubleshooting as needed.
  • Address and solve complex technical issues that arise, enhancing system reliability and performance.
  • Implement global standards and identify areas for continuous improvement.
  • Stay current in industry knowledge, driving adoption of new solutions and innovation within the BMS program.

Collaboration and testing:

  • Oversee the lab BMS deployment for testing, troubleshooting, and alignment with production standards.
  • Partner with security on BMS application review and drive resolution of security findings with BMS supplier.
  • Collaborate with partner teams to improve system design, interactions between technology layers, and support infrastructure, improving reliability and availability.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Data Science, Cybersecurity, or related field AND 3+ years technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, service engineering, systems engineering or industrial controls
  • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Data Science, Cybersecurity, or related field AND 6+ years technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, service engineering, systems engineering or industrial controls

  • OR Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Data Science, Cybersecurity, or related field AND 8+ years technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, service engineering, systems engineering or industrial controls

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 3+ years technical experience working with large-scale cloud or distributed systems.

  • Experience with installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of at least four of the following applications required: Eaton Foreseer Battery Monitoring System (FBMS), Schneider Electric PME, Vertiv Alber BXE, BTech BVM, CellWatch NDSL, Generex BACSViewer, Iconics Gen64, PowerShield 8 Link.

  • Experience with automating functions like scripting, SQL queries, and/or MS Flow highly desired but not required.

  • Experience with managing budgets, submitting purchase orders, and project management.

Service Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $160,200 - $261,000 per year.
