We are hiring a Senior Accountant to own core accounting for a growing manufacturing and wholesale business, with cost accounting and inventory valuation as the focus of the seat. You run a fast, clean close, you own the general ledger and the reconciliations, and you keep the financials audit-ready year-round. On that foundation you also own the standard costs, the BOM and labor, overhead absorption, inventory valuation, and the margin metrics leadership runs the company on.
Your first rock (first 60-day priority): own your first month-end close for cost and inventory, then tighten the standard cost roll, the inventory reserve, and the variance commentary so each close runs faster and cleaner. Defend the numbers to the auditors.
• Core accounting: month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting on a fast, clean cycle.
• Standard costing and inventory valuation: BOM accuracy, labor and overhead absorption, and variance analysis (PPV, usage, yield).
• Margin and gross-profit reporting by product, channel, and customer.
• Wholesale pricing analysis and manufacturing cost analysis to support pricing and margin decisions.
• External audits and exams (annual financial and other third-party): you build the support and keep us audit-ready year-round.
• Inventory controls, cycle counts, and reserve analysis for slow-turn and dead stock.
• Fixed assets, lease schedules, and related roll-forwards.
• Weekly scorecard inputs and month-end variance commentary that gives operators a clear read on the business.
• Accounting process improvement: standardize and document the recurring work, and take manual effort and error out of the close, the costing, and order-to-cash.
• Strong core accounting: full-cycle month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting under GAAP. This is the foundation of the role.
• You have personally owned a month-end close and built or maintained a standard cost.
• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Cost accounting and inventory experience in a manufacturing or wholesale environment.
• Sound judgment applying GAAP in a mid-market, resource-lean setting.
• Advanced Excel and ERP experience required. Sage highly preferred.
• Audit experience a plus, ideally supporting external audits from the company side.
• CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting. Master's a plus.
You are a strong accountant first. You own the close, you reconcile clean, and you can go deep on standard costs, BOMs, and variances when the business needs it. You are organized, direct, and self-directed. You document as you go, and you would rather fix the root cause of a variance than reconcile the same one every month. You are comfortable in a company that runs on EOS and expects clear ownership, measurable results, and traction on the vital few.
