ABOUT THE ROLEA leading alternative investment firm is seeking a Senior Associate to join its Corporate Accounting team in Charlotte, North Carolina. This role provides broad exposure to management company accounting, financial reporting, expense allocations, treasury, audit, and process improvement within an investment management environment.
The ideal candidate will have strong corporate accounting fundamentals, experience with month-end close and financial reporting, and the ability to manage multiple accounting and operational responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Prepare monthly management company financial statements, consolidations, and supporting schedules.
- Prepare journal entries and monthly balance sheet and income statement reconciliations.
- Prepare and review management company expense allocations and billbacks across funds and affiliated entities.
- Account for shared expenses including travel and entertainment, insurance, software, organizational costs, deal expenses, and fund-related expenses.
- Coordinate annual financial statement audits, including preparation of audit schedules and supporting documentation.
- Support annual budgeting and preparation of financial materials for management meetings.
- Review daily and monthly cash reconciliations.
- Oversee travel and entertainment expense reporting, including reviewing expenses for accuracy, documentation, policy compliance, and appropriate entity allocation.
- Support corporate card administration and prepare related monthly journal entries.
- Assist with treasury activities, including wire processing, bank account setup, and user entitlements.
- Identify opportunities to automate accounting processes and improve existing systems and workflows.
- Strengthen internal controls and drive efficiencies across the Corporate Accounting function.
- Partner with the Controller and broader finance team on special projects and strategic initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience in corporate accounting, management company accounting, or a related accounting function.
- Strong understanding of month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
- Experience with management company accounting or alternative investment firms preferred.
- Knowledge of expense allocations and intercompany accounting is preferred.
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and general accounting principles.
- Experience supporting financial statement audits.
- Strong Excel and financial systems skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational capabilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Process-improvement and automation mindset.
