    Description

    Senior Controls Engineer

    TRC is seeking an experienced Senior Controls Engineer to provide technical leadership in the design, development, and implementation of automation and control systems for custom industrial automation equipment. This role will lead controls projects from concept through commissioning, develop machine control packages based on customer requirements, mentor junior engineers, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Siemens and Rockwell Allen-Bradley PLC platforms within a machine-building or manufacturing environment.

    Travel: Approximately 20% Domestic & International

    Key Responsibilities

    • Design and develop PLC, HMI, and motion control solutions for automated equipment.

    • Program and troubleshoot Siemens and Allen-Bradley control systems.

    • Lead controls projects from design through startup and customer acceptance.

    • Troubleshoot electrical and automation issues during testing and commissioning.

    • Work closely with customers, project managers, and engineering teams to ensure project success.

    • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.

    • Support continuous improvement and engineering best practices.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field preferred.

    • 10+ years of controls engineering experience in industrial automation or machine building.

    • Strong experience with Siemens and Rockwell Allen-Bradley PLCs required.

    • Experience with HMI development and integration.

    • Ability to read and troubleshoot electrical schematics and control system designs.

    • Experience with safety PLCs, machine safety circuits, and fail-safe designs.

    • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

    • Ability to travel approximately 20%.
