Senior Controls Engineer Product Line Manager – Control Systems Trendsetter Engineering provides Multiplexed Electro -Hydraulic (MUX) Control Systems for use in the subsea industry. The Electrical Engineer is responsible for designing and developing electronics for use in a harsh topsides and subsea environment. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to manage designs from conception, through end of life incorporating feedback from stakeholders and customers continuously. The position requires cross -functional collaboration to interface and integrate the controls equipment to mechanical designs and equipment. The candidate must demonstrate excellent process and project management skills to function effectively with peers and cross -functional teams. This position will be based on the Trendsetter office located in Houston, TX, but requires occasional travel in support of field operations. The position offers bonuses and a competitive salary based on the applicant’s experience.

POSITION DUTIES:<\/b>
<\/p>

• Perform troubleshooting and circuit analysis of digital, analog and power circuits.
  <\/li>
• Develop specifications and test requirements that drive product design.
  <\/li>
• Provide guidance for designers, and other engineers, on design tasks as needed on tasks of moderate complexity.
  <\/li>
• Collaborate with product group mechanical and electrical engineers on detailed design work, and work with project and business development groups on product research, definition, and development.
  <\/li>
• Drive continuous improvement and best practices by evaluating industry tools and techniques, then collaborating with the team to discuss implementation.
  <\/li>
• Ensure the controls systems designs are compliant with stakeholder expectations and defining industry standards.
  <\/li>
• Identify and incorporate job specific client requirements into new and existing controls systems.
  <\/li>
• Manage asset documentation and assigned Master Document Registers.
  <\/li>
• Create, review, and approve schematics/drawings, procedures, and specifications.
  <\/li>
• Act as lead engineer for controls systems integration onto job specific client vessels.
  <\/li>
• Support verification and validation programs for controls related equipment.
  <\/li>
• Analyze new and existing designs for reliability, serviceability, maintenance, and handling.
  <\/li>
• Communicate product and process improvements to production engineering on equipment design, test procedures, and documentation requirements.
  <\/li>
• Oversee the mobilization and demobilization of controls system assets.
  <\/li>
• Work alongside controls technicians during equipment remediation, maintenance, and testing activities.
  <\/li>
• Develop Control System service personnel training requirements, and materials.
  <\/li>
• Interface with third party departments and vendors to ensure all project deliverables are met.
  <\/li>
• Perform engineering duties at customer sites, or offshore when required.
  <\/li>

  POSITION REQUIREMENTS<\/b>
  <\/p>

  Minimum Qualifications:
  <\/p>

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or other related engineering discipline from a EAC/ABET accredited program.
    <\/li>
  • A strong understanding of electronics and their relationship to software, firmware, and mechanical interfaces and operation in a number of electrical specialties.
    <\/li>
  • OSHA electrical safety work practices
    <\/li>
  • Hands -on electro -mechanical repair or assembly experience.
    <\/li>
  • Proven teamwork, collaboration, and leadership skills.
    <\/li>
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    <\/li>
  • A firm knowledge of electrical product safety.
    <\/li>
  • Previous experience in working with NFPA 70, API 16D, API 17G, and API 17F preferred.
    <\/li>
  • Software Tool Suite: Autocad, Solidworks, Modbus, Canbus, Power Electronics. Additional Desired Knowledge and Skills:
    <\/li>
  • Experience with electronics used in harsh and hazardous environments.
    <\/li>
  • Wide range of electrical engineering technological knowledge, including, but not limited to:
    <\/li><\/ul>

    Sensing and control systems, Ethernet communication systems at the physical and/or network level, Instrumentation and noise, Optimization of hardware and firmware integration architecture for best performance, Microcontroller technology, application and programming, Power distribution and transmission lines, Electromagnetic compatibility, Fiber optics and optical data links.

    • Experience as a technical lead.

      • Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, listen and speak.

      • Frequent need for manual dexterity – using hands, fingers, and arms to push, pulls, reach, grab, hold, and lift.

      • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
        <\/li>
      • Regularly required to sit & stand for long periods of time.
        <\/li>
      • Frequent use of PC is required. Wear steel toe shoes, safety glasses and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed in safety zone areas.
