Job Description:

The Senior Control Panel Designer will design and document electrical control panels supporting next-generation Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This role focuses on panel-level wiring, power distribution, electrical integration, and control systems while collaborating closely with electrical engineers, PCB designers, and system engineers to ensure reliable and scalable energy storage solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design auxiliary battery system control panels using E-Plan.

  • Develop electrical wiring diagrams, schematics, and panel layouts.

  • Design power and control wiring between control panels, PCB assemblies, and system components.

  • Select appropriate electrical components, connectors, relays, breakers, and interconnects.

  • Design panel-level power distribution and control systems.

  • Ensure electrical designs comply with applicable safety and engineering standards.

  • Support integration of the Auxiliary Management Unit (AMU) with PCB electronics.

  • Review panel designs for manufacturability, reliability, and maintainability.

  • Produce complete electrical design documentation and Bill of Materials (BOM).

  • Support panel assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and production implementation.

  • Participate in design reviews and technical discussions.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Support hardware integration and system validation.

  • Assist with engineering change orders (ECOs) and design revisions.

  • Maintain engineering documentation throughout the product lifecycle.

  • Ensure quality, safety, and project schedule objectives are achieved.

Required Skills:

  • Minimum 57 years of Control Panel Design experience.

  • Strong proficiency with E-Plan.

  • Experience with AutoCAD Electrical or SolidWorks Electrical is acceptable.

  • Strong knowledge of:

    • Electrical Wiring

    • Industrial Control Systems

    • Power Distribution

    • Electrical Panels

  • Experience designing control panels for:

    • Industrial Systems

    • Energy Systems

    • Battery Systems

  • Experience working with:

    • High-Speed Systems (10Gb)

    • High-Voltage Electrical Systems

  • Experience selecting electrical control components and interconnects.

  • Strong understanding of electrical integration between hardware systems.

  • Excellent troubleshooting and documentation skills.

  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.

Preferred Skills:

  • Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) experience.

  • Power systems or renewable energy experience.

  • Functional safety knowledge.

  • Understanding of hardware/software integration boundaries.

  • Security-aware hardware or industrial control system experience.

  • Experience supporting production and manufacturing environments.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience designing complex industrial control panels.

  • Strong understanding of electrical system architecture and power distribution.

  • Ability to manage multiple engineering priorities simultaneously.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong teamwork and communication abilities.

Education:

  • Associate\'s or Bachelor\'s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Controls Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • Equivalent industry experience will be considered.

Certifications:

  • E-Plan Certification Preferred

  • AutoCAD Electrical Certification Preferred

  • IPC/WHMA-A-620 Certification Preferred

  • NFPA 70E Training Preferred

  • Functional Safety Training Preferred
