Senior Consumer Compliance Consultant - Mortgage Servicing- Getzville NY

Schedule: 4 days in the office and 1 day remote in Getzville NY

Must possess strong expertise in Mortgage Servicing, including comprehensive knowledge of applicable federal, state, and regulatory requirements. Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying mortgage servicing regulations is essential. Strong auditing, compliance, risk management, or regulatory examination experience is highly preferred and considered a strong asset.

Strong understanding of banking regulations and compliance requirements, including RESPA, Regulation H, and the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA), with demonstrated experience applying regulatory guidelines to support operational excellence, risk management, and adherence to consumer protection standards

Overview:

Provide guidance on complex compliance risk management activities to the assigned line of business to include production of materials for both internal and external exams, conducting fraud reviews, updating and creating training materials, provide expertise and support for the business line, performing monitoring, and/or testing including the creation and updating of scripts. Analyze various State and Federal regulations to determine the relevance to business lines. Leverage risk management tools to enhance the organization's risk awareness in order to facilitate improved decisions.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Serve as a primary consultant with managers of business units on business compliance matters
• Manage the analysis and interpretation of Federal and State laws in conjunction with Compliance Risk Management to ensure consistency and actions consistent with M&T's risk appetite
• Support business line by providing technical compliance expertise in furthering business line initiatives, including the development and revamping of products, and resolving issues to ensure policies, procedures and controls result in material compliance.
• Ensure all activities are appropriately vetted and approved by Compliance Risk Management, as appropriate.
• Oversee the integrity of current compliance policies and procedures by managing periodic operational risk/compliance reviews of the business line activities.
• Prepare and present updates and communication to various levels of management.
• Maintain a thorough knowledge and understanding of the laws, rules and regulations with which the business must comply and an awareness of issues of recent regulatory focus
• Escalate issues to management as appropriate
• Adhere to applicable compliance/operational risk controls in accordance with Company or regulatory standards and policies.
• Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
• Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
• Complete other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.

Minimum five years' relevant industry experience, to include one year of compliance experience. Demonstrated knowledge of risk management strategies and the financial industry

Education and Experience Preferred:

• Thorough technical operational risk/compliance knowledge.
• Strong project management skills.
• Strong and proven ability to integrate sound compliance controls into business plans.
• Strong analytical abilities and problem solving skills
• Ability to work well with all levels of management. Must possess self-motivation and organizational skills.
• Four years' supervisory / work leadership experience preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Four years' departmental experience preferred.
• Solid working knowledge of personal computers and software utilized by the Division.

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $89,600.00 - $149,300.00 Annual (USD). The successful candidate's particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
