Job Duties

  • Manage the full design and construction process. Keep day-to-day project leadership through scope development, contracting, construction administration and closeout.
  • Lead and supervise the project team and the design and construction teams.
  • Manage and monitor contract budgets. Reconcile contracts and budgets with the Division Fiscal Manager and report monthly cash flow.
  • Guide stakeholder design decisions to keep scope within the approved budget, and coordinate value engineering.
  • Prepare schematic, preliminary and construction document submittals for CSU Capital Planning, Design & Construction (CPDC), the CSU Board of Trustees and other boards as required.
  • Prepare presentation materials for bi-annual Campus Planning Committee meetings, monthly project updates and executive briefings.
  • Obtain all required plan reviews before bidding: State Fire Marshal, Division of the State Architect, life safety and code plan check, Seismic Peer Review, Mechanical Systems Review, Commissioning (if needed) and other agencies. Ensure compliance with all authorities having jurisdiction.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation for post-performance reviews, audits and agency inspections.

Minimum Qualifications

  • About 10 years of experience on public works projects
  • Design-Build and/or Progressive Design-Build experience
  • Proven ability to supervise and lead design and construction teams
  • Senior-level project leadership
  • Able to work on-site, in person
  • CSU experience is a plus but not required
