Job DetailsWe are seeking a hands-on Assistant Controller to help strengthen our accounting department and improve the accuracy, timeliness, and reliability of financial reporting.
This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, solving problems, and working closely with leadership to improve accounting processes. The ideal candidate understands construction accounting, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is comfortable balancing daily accounting responsibilities with month-end close and financial reporting.
This role reports directly to the Accounting Manager while maintaining regular interaction with executive leadership, making it a highly visible position with significant opportunity to influence the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
- Perform and review bank reconciliations.
- Support accounts receivable and project billing activities.
- Process and understand AIA billings.
- Assist with construction job costing and financial reporting.
- Maintain accurate general ledger activity.
- Support fringe benefit reporting and related accounting.
- Help improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting accuracy.
- Partner with accounting leadership to improve financial visibility.
- Assist leadership with financial information needed to make business decisions.
- Work collaboratively across accounting and operations.
Qualifications:
Required-
- Construction accounting experience.
- ERP experience within the construction industry.
- Knowledge of AIA billing.
- Experience performing month-end close.
- Strong bank reconciliation experience.
- AP/AR experience with emphasis on accounts receivable.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Willingness to be hands-on and work alongside the team.
Preferred-
- Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, Senior Accountant, or Senior Construction Accountant experience.
- Job costing experience.
- WIP reporting experience.
- Percentage-of-completion accounting exposure.
- Experience with ComputerEase.
