Your Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Computational Designer, Data Centers & Industrial Projects Specialist to join Stantec's Design Computing team. This is an opportunity to collaborate with the team to support current, and help to develop computational design, automation, and design technology innovation. This role will support Mission Critical and Advanced Manufacturing projects by identifying, prototyping, and implementing high-value automation across architecture, engineering, BIM, and digital delivery workflows.
The successful candidate will work directly with practitioners and project teams to understand current delivery methods, identify automation opportunities, and translate project needs into practical computational workflows. They will build and validate proofs of concept, test them against real project conditions, and coordinate with in-house development, Digital Practice, Digital Delivery, IT, and platform teams to transition successful prototypes into scalable, stable BIM-integrated tools and supported firmwide workflows.
As a senior contributor, this person will help establish repeatable engagement models, define measurable outcomes, communicate value to project and practice leadership, and support consistent, billable deployment of Design Computing within active project work. Curiosity for AI-assisted workflows, rapid prototyping, and emerging coding methods will be valuable as the team continues to move efficiently from idea to tested solution.
This role is critical to moving computational design from project‑specific expertise to firm‑wide capability. The Senior Computational Designer will help Stantec:

Education and Experience
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Design Computing, Computational Design, or a related field.
5+ years of professional experience applying computational design within an architectural, engineering, industrial, mission critical, or integrated multidisciplinary design practice.
Demonstrated experience supporting data center, industrial, mission critical, advanced manufacturing, or other technically complex projects.
Proven ability to develop reusable computational workflows that improve project delivery beyond a single task or one-off script.
Professional licensure is strongly preferred, such as architecture, engineering, or a related discipline.

Pay Range:
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
