Position Summary
A large, publicly traded organization is seeking a Senior Compliance Specialist to support and strengthen its Third-Party Due Diligence and Counterparty Risk Management program. This role is instrumental in upholding the company’s code of conduct, anti-corruption standards, sanctions compliance, trade controls, and broader ethics and compliance obligations across both domestic and international operations.
This individual will act as a subject matter expert in third-party risk, partnering closely with cross-functional teams including Legal, Supply Chain, Finance, and Commercial. The position requires hands-on involvement in conducting and reviewing due diligence across a wide range of third-party relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Third-Party Due Diligence & Risk Assessment
Perform risk-based due diligence reviews on customers, vendors, agents, contractors, and other external partners across multiple business lines
Conduct enhanced due diligence (EDD) for higher-risk entities, including international organizations, state-affiliated entities, and complex ownership structures
Document findings, assign risk ratings, and provide mitigation recommendations aligned with internal policies
Assess incomplete or non-standard documentation using a practical, risk-based approach
Compliance Program Support
Ensure third-party engagements align with internal code of conduct, anti-bribery/anti-corruption standards, and applicable regulatory requirements
Collaborate with Legal and Compliance leadership to implement appropriate risk mitigation measures (e.g., contract language, certifications, audit rights, monitoring)
Support ongoing enhancements to compliance policies, procedures, and due diligence workflows
Stakeholder Engagement & Advisory
Serve as a key point of contact for business teams on third-party onboarding, vendor setup, and risk-related inquiries
Provide clear, practical compliance guidance while supporting business objectives
Communicate due diligence outcomes and requirements in a concise, business-friendly manner
Partner cross-functionally with teams such as Commercial, Supply Chain, Accounting, and IT
Oversight & Continuous Improvement
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members
Review due diligence work for accuracy, consistency, and alignment with program standards
Identify trends or gaps in third-party risk management and recommend improvements
Support internal audits, reviews, and regulatory inquiries
Contribute to training and awareness initiatives related to ethics and compliance
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Legal Studies, Risk Management, or related field
5+ years of experience in compliance, third-party due diligence, counterparty risk, or regulatory risk management
Experience conducting risk-based due diligence on both domestic and international entities
Strong understanding of:
Anti-bribery and anti-corruption principles (e.g., FCPA concepts)
Sanctions and trade compliance fundamentals
Corporate and beneficial ownership structures
Experience with due diligence tools, screening platforms, and ERP systems (e.g., vendor onboarding workflows)
Strong analytical, documentation, and decision-making skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience within a large, complex, or highly regulated environment
Exposure to international or logistics-related counterparties
Relevant certifications (e.g., CAMS, CCEP, CRCM, or similar)
Experience supporting audits or regulatory reviews
