Big-D Mission Critical is looking for a Senior Commissioning Manager who has experience leading commissioning strategy across multiple projects, ensuring consistency, quality, and alignment with project objectives. Position Details

Position: Senior Commissioning Manager Location: Salt Lake City, UT or Traveling Role

Education/Experience Requirements

8+ years commissioning or mission critical systems experience Program-level leadership experience Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, fire protection, and building controls systems Strong understanding of industry standards and guidelines related to construction and commissioning Campus or hyperscale programs preferred Owner/Operator-side commissioning experience preferred CxAlloy preferred Experience with commissioning tools, equipment, and software applications

Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities

Leads commissioning strategy across multiple projects Oversees commissioning managers and commissioning agents Develops and implements commissioning plans, schedules, and procedures for construction projects with commissioning agents, user groups, subcontractors, and construction team members Coordinates with design and construction teams to review project requirements and ensure that commissioning activities are integrated into the master project schedule Manages the commissioning process for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, building controls, and other critical systems Manages pre-functional and functional testing of equipment and systems to verify proper installation and functionality Manages documentation of commissioning activities, test results, and equipment certifications Collaborates with user groups to ensure a smooth transition from construction to operation Solution-oriented troubleshooting Schedules and reviews factory witness testing Helps coordinate and verify site acceptance verifications Ensures all testing L1-L5 is properly performed and documented Works with various manufactures, subcontractors, vendors, and customers for equipment energizations and start-up Prepares for and manages materials necessary for commissioning process Writes and tracks RFI's and documents general best practices and procedures Submits and tracks change orders Manages commissioning teams for each scope including mechanical, electrical, controls, and CxA Develops comprehensive commissioning schedule and prepares for recovery Holds prep meetings, safety briefings, and commissioning coordination meetings Reviews and approves testing scripts with CxA/customer and ensures feasibility with subcontractors Participates in job closeout process Monitors and enforces, along with project team, safety and OSHA standards to maintain safe working environment for all employees and site visitors Understands and can build a commissioning schedule Works with project team and subcontractors to ensure detailed commissioning schedule is met Proactively mitigates foreseen constraints, and assists in implementing plans to maintain or recover schedule Communicates unresolved constraints and impacts in a timely manner as well as plans to mitigate impacts Helps ensure most up-to-date project documents are supplied to subcontractors and CxA Assists with redlining and updating drawings as you progress through commissioning Full understanding of commissioning process and able to provide quality control review of plans/specifications and documentation Responsible to provide technical and procedural commissioning direction to internal and external shareholders Understands equipment issue priorities and their effect on process, drives issue resolution
