This growing P&C insurance organization is looking to add a Senior Commercial Lines Underwriter to its underwriting team. This individual will be responsible for developing and managing a profitable commercial lines book of business while building strong relationships with agency partners across their territory.
Location: Hybrid in Glen Allen, VA or field-based in PA, NC, SC or MD
What You'll Do:
- Underwrite and manage a profitable portfolio of middle market commercial lines accounts
- Evaluate new and renewal business, including risk selection, pricing, coverage analysis, and account structuring
- Build and maintain strong relationships with independent agents and brokers to drive production and retention
- Travel within the territory to conduct agency visits, marketing activities, and business development meetings
- Collaborate with internal underwriting, claims, and risk control teams to deliver strong customer outcomes
What You Bring:
- 5+ years of commercial lines underwriting experience
- Strong knowledge of commercial package, property, general liability, workers' compensation, and auto coverages
- Experience managing agency relationships and developing business within an assigned territory
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills
