Job Summary
Axis Product Development is a growing aerospace and defense manufacturing company seeking a Senior Setup Machinist to join our team. The ideal candidate is experienced with 3/4/5 Axis machines, detail-oriented, organized, and committed to producing high-quality work while maintaining full traceability and compliance with aerospace quality requirements.
Responsibilities
- Able to set up and operate CNC milling machines
- Interpret engineering drawings, customer specifications, travelers, and work instructions
- Able to use appropriate measuring devices such as: calipers, micrometers, plug gages, thread gages, and height gages
- Maintain traceability and documentation throughout the manufacturing process
- Record production activities and complete required paperwork accurately.
- Handle parts carefully to prevent cosmetic or dimensional damage.
- Be willing to cross-train and support the growth of other employees as needed
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of equipment.
- Follow all company safety procedures and quality system requirements.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Team oriented with strong interpersonal skills, comfortable working in an open environment with teammates across the organization

Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read and interpret manufacturing drawings and work instructions.
- Strong math skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to read, write, and speak effectively in English
- Self-motivated
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
Preferred
- Familiar with Haas, DN Solutions (Doosan), and Matsuura machinery
- Experience in aerospace, medical device, or precision manufacturing environments
- Fixture design and manual machining experience a plus
- Experience using ERP systems and electronic work instructions.
- Understanding of AS9100 quality requirements
