    Job Summary

    Axis Product Development is a growing aerospace and defense manufacturing company seeking a Senior Setup Machinist to join our team. The ideal candidate is experienced with 3/4/5 Axis machines, detail-oriented, organized, and committed to producing high-quality work while maintaining full traceability and compliance with aerospace quality requirements.

    Responsibilities

    • Able to set up and operate CNC milling machines
    • Interpret engineering drawings, customer specifications, travelers, and work instructions
    • Able to use appropriate measuring devices such as: calipers, micrometers, plug gages, thread gages, and height gages
    • Maintain traceability and documentation throughout the manufacturing process
    • Record production activities and complete required paperwork accurately.
    • Handle parts carefully to prevent cosmetic or dimensional damage.
    • Be willing to cross-train and support the growth of other employees as needed
    • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of equipment.
    • Follow all company safety procedures and quality system requirements.
    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
    • Team oriented with strong interpersonal skills, comfortable working in an open environment with teammates across the organization

    Qualifications

    Required

    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Ability to read and interpret manufacturing drawings and work instructions.
    • Strong math skills
    • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Basic computer skills
    • Ability to read, write, and speak effectively in English
    • Self-motivated
    • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds

    Preferred

    • Familiar with Haas, DN Solutions (Doosan), and Matsuura machinery
    • Experience in aerospace, medical device, or precision manufacturing environments
    • Fixture design and manual machining experience a plus
    • Experience using ERP systems and electronic work instructions.
    • Understanding of AS9100 quality requirements
