JOB SUMMARY: The Senior CNC Operator – Wood Cutting is a highly skilled individual contributor responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient operation of CNC equipment used in the cutting and machining of wood-based materials. This role requires deep technical expertise within the Homag CNC ecosystem and extensive hands-on experience using WoodWOP to execute complex machining operations with consistency and precision. This role is expected to share knowledge, provide guidance, and support the development of effective operating practices within the Homag and WoodWOP ecosystem among peer operators. Through technical excellence, attention to detail, and a strong ownership mindset, this position plays a critical part in establishing reliable processes, maintaining product quality, and supporting production efficiency as the organization expands its CNC capabilities. Advanced proficiency operating Homag CNC routers and related equipmentExtensive experience using WoodWOP for CNC machining operationsStrong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, cut lists, and work instructionsSolid understanding of machining fundamentals, tooling, fixturing, and material behavior in wood-based productsStrong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-based manufacturing environmentCommitment to safe machine operation and adherence to all safety policies and proceduresAbility to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining high quality standards EXPERIENCE:Minimum of 10 years of hands-on CNC operation experience within the Homag ecosystemSignificant production experience machining plywood, solid wood, and engineered wood productsAdvanced WoodWOP experience requiredCAM programming and CNC program development experience is advantageous but not requiredExperience with 4-axis and 5-axis CNC machining is beneficialExperience with two-face machining operations (flip operations) is beneficialHigh school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade education preferred RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Responsibilities and duties include:Operate Homag CNC machines to cut and machine wood-based components in accordance with drawings, programs, and work instructionsExecute and adjust WoodWOP programs to ensure dimensional accuracy, surface quality, and efficient machine operationPerform machine setup, tooling changes, and routine adjustments as required for productionVerify first-article and in-process parts to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standardsIdentify, troubleshoot, and resolve machining or equipment-related issues within the scope of the roleServe as a technical resource for other CNC operators by sharing best practices, techniques, and process knowledge within the Homag and WoodWOP environmentSupport training and informal skill development of peer operators through hands-on guidance and collaborationMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company standardsCommunicate production issues, equipment concerns, or quality risks promptly to manufacturing leadershipParticipate in continuous improvement initiatives related to machining efficiency, quality, and safetyFollow all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements
