Role Overview

As a Senior Civil Trial Attorney, you will manage a semi-autonomous litigation caseload from inception through verdict and appeal. In this hybrid role, you will serve as first-chair trial counsel, lead courtroom advocacy, develop comprehensive litigation strategies, and prepare expert witnesses for complex civil defense cases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all phases of civil litigation, from case inception through verdict and appeal.
  • Prepare for and attend hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials; draft and argue critical motions, including Motions in Limine.
  • Conduct comprehensive case evaluations and manage extensive discovery workflows; take/defend depositions and draft pleadings.
  • Identify and coordinate with trial experts, managing expert witness preparation workflows.
  • Interview clients and witnesses, maintain detailed case documentation, and provide case updates and strategic recommendations.

Required Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in good standing with the California State Bar.
  • Minimum 8+ years of Civil Litigation Defense experience with a strong background in cases from inception through appeal.
  • Proven track record as first-chair trial counsel with at least 6 jury trials and 3 bench trials taken to verdict.
  • Deep expertise in the California Evidence Code and trial procedures.
  • Demonstrated trial skills including jury selection, direct/cross-examination, and deposition execution.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Public Entity Defense or Government Tort Litigation.
  • Background in Municipal Law or Law Enforcement Defense.
  • Experience in Personal Injury Defense or Civil Rights Litigation.
