Position Overview

MDB is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer - Water Infrastructure - to support MDB's Water Technical Assistance team. The team consists of technical water experts that provide federal and state clients with knowledge and experience to work with water systems, water utilities, communities, and the general public to guide and recommend effective water management solutions. This team is providing technical assistance to communities in need of water improvement and engaging with nonprofit organizations to promote sustainable water treatment.

The Senior Civil Engineer will provide innovative and sustainable technical assistance solutions to underserved communities to help them overcome water quality, sanitation, resource, and infrastructure challenges.

This is a part-time position. Work will be performed in a fast-paced work environment and can be done from a remote location anywhere within the United States. Field work and travel for meetings and site assessments may be required.

Responsibilities will include:

• Design and plan water infrastructure and water treatment plans and solutions
• Develop and conduct community water infrastructure assessments
• Work in the field with communities and execute needs assessments
• Develop adaptive management plans for water quality goals
• Conduct engineering feasibility studies and preliminary engineering reports
• Provide cost estimates for water infrastructure solutions
• Create public education materials on water systems
• Contribute to the development of technical reports and memorandums
• Collaborate with partners to identify community water solutions

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's strongly preferred in engineering
• 10+ years of relevant water infrastructure experience
• Experience with outreach, technical assistance, and water infrastructure design
• Excellent writing, communication, and environmental reporting skills
• Strong interpersonal skills with community and agency stakeholders
• Work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced settings
• High proficiency in Word, Outlook, and Excel
• Eligible to work in USA

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with government sectors
• Experience delivering outreach, planning, and technical assistance
• Knowledge of soil types and water treatment considerations
• Working knowledge of GIS mapping and analysis tools
