Target Salary Range*:$130,000 - $145,000
*This represents the potential salary range for this position depending on education level, years of experience and/or certifications in addition to other position specific requirements which may impact salary
Position Overview
The Civil Engineer will support the sustainment of mission-critical facilities and infrastructure at Kirtland AFB to ensure continued mission success for the customer. The position will prepare design documentation, including statements of work, specifications, drawings, sketches, calculations, and building code references.
Key Responsibilities
Project Lifecycle and Technical Support
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) throughout the project lifecycle, from existing-conditions investigations through conceptual design and construction completion.
- Evaluate project submittals, provide technical solutions, and prepare modification packages.
- Participate in technical design reviews and requirements validation.
- Support design development, analysis, and review tasks.
- Provide technical approach assessments and evaluate and recommend approval of submittals.
Design Documentation and Review
- Prepare statements of work, specifications, drawings, sketches, calculations, and building code references.
- Review plans and detail drawings for new construction and the maintenance, removal, or rearrangement of existing layouts and finishes.
- Formulate and recommend corrective action measures, including schedule revisions, manpower adjustments, fund allocations, and work requirements.
Communication and Deliverables
- Prepare and present presentations and briefings to KAFB government counterparts and clients.
- Capture, synthesize, and summarize key points from interviews, focus groups, and internal meetings.
- Translate insights from interviews, focus groups, and internal meetings into draft deliverables and products.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from a program certified by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). [Required]
Experience
- Minimum of five years of relevant experience. [Required]
- Experience working at or for a military installation is preferred.
- Commitment and capacity to work in a collaborative environment in support of the Air Force mission and in compliance with established DoD criteria. [Required]
Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 software suite and Adobe Acrobat Pro. [Required]
- Excellent organizational and time management skills. [Required]
- Ability to take initiative and work independently without direct supervision. [Required]
- Ability to work with customers and coworkers in a courteous, professional, and effective manner. [Required]
Licensure
- Have or be able to obtain a Professional Civil Engineer License in one of the U.S. states or territories within one year of the hire date. [Required]
Other Requirements
- Must possess and maintain a valid U.S. driver's license. [Required]
- Must be able to pass a drug screen. [Required]

Preferred Qualifications
Experience
- Currently possess a Professional Engineer (PE) license in one of the U.S. states or territories.
- Five or more years of experience working in the engineering section at a major military installation, preferably a U.S. Air Force base.
