Senior Civil Designer

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Civil Designer for a contract-to-hire opportunity with our client in Wyomissing, PA. This position will provide civil design services for industrial and engineering projects, including technical support, design coordination, and leadership within the civil design team.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in site development, grading, drainage, and civil infrastructure design, along with the ability to independently develop and review comprehensive civil drawing packages.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed civil design drawings with minimal supervision and engineering input.

• Prepare and review complete civil design drawing packages, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project requirements.

• Maintain a thorough understanding of project scope, schedules, deliverables, milestones, budgets, applicable codes, and industry standards.

• Perform quality assurance reviews of civil design documents to ensure compliance with drawing standards and document management procedures.

• Coordinate civil design activities with engineers, designers, and other engineering disciplines.

• Develop site layouts, grading plans, drainage systems, roadway designs, and associated civil infrastructure.

• Review and interpret supplier drawings, construction specifications, schematics, and engineering documentation.

• Assist in preparing bills of materials and supporting project documentation.

• Provide technical guidance and support to junior designers as needed.

• Ensure civil design deliverables are completed accurately and within established project schedules and budgets.

Required Qualifications

• Extensive experience in civil design, including:

  • Site layouts, parking lots, walkways, and roadways.

  • Site grading and drainage systems.

  • Stormwater detention and retention basins.

  • Sanitary sewer systems.

  • Railroad siding and associated infrastructure.

• Experience in a senior design or project leadership role.

• Demonstrated ability to independently develop, review, and check civil drawing packages.

• Experience coordinating civil design deliverables with multiple engineering disciplines.

• Proficiency with MicroStation V8i and AutoCAD.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Strong understanding of civil design standards, engineering practices, and construction documentation.

• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Education

• Two- or three-year technical diploma in Civil Design, Engineering Technology, CAD/Drafting, or a related discipline preferred.

• An equivalent combination of education, technical training, and relevant industry experience will be considered.
