Senior Chemical Process Engineer - Chemical Manufacturing - Base Salary to 130k/year - High Point, NC

  • Our client, a specialty chemical manufacturer, is seeking an experienced Senior Chemical Process Engineer to join their onsite manufacturing team in High Point, NC.
  • The Senior Chemical Process Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, optimization, scale-up, and continuous improvement of chemical manufacturing processes. This role will support process technology, technology transfer from laboratory-scale R&D to commercial manufacturing, process reliability and repeatability, product yield and quality, equipment design, process safety, automated process controls, plant utilities, commissioning, and manufacturing documentation.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and optimize chemical manufacturing processes to support production goals, process reliability, product yield, product quality, and manufacturing standards.
  • Perform daily field walks to verify equipment status, troubleshoot process and equipment abnormalities, and support commissioning activities.
  • Support process troubleshooting, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventive measures for manufacturing and quality issues.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, maintenance, quality, and other cross-functional teams to implement process and equipment changes.
  • Conduct process design and equipment design reviews.
  • Facilitate technology transfer and process scale-up by translating laboratory-scale R&D processes into commercial manufacturing processes, including process optimization, commercialization, production implementation, and ongoing process improvements.
  • Write, revise, and maintain batch procedures and manufacturing documentation for new and improved chemical processes.
  • Apply statistical analysis and statistical process control techniques to monitor process performance, investigate quality issues, and support customer requirements.
  • Support process safety activities, including Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) studies.
  • Develop, modify, and interpret CAD drawings and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) related to chemical processes and manufacturing equipment.
  • Support automated process control systems, plant utility systems, and associated process hazards.
  • Utilize preventive and predictive maintenance programs to support process and equipment reliability.
  • Assist with annual maintenance shutdown activities.
  • Ensure chemical manufacturing processes and process changes comply with applicable regulations and manufacturing standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years experience in chemical processing industry or comparable experience in manufacturing.
  • Experience in chemical process engineering, process design, process optimization, process improvement, or process development within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with root cause analysis and implementation of preventive measures for manufacturing or process issues.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of chemistry, chemical processes and associated hazards, plant utility systems, automated process control systems, and associated hazards.
  • Ability to author, modify, and interpret CAD drawings and P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams).
  • Experience using Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience utilizing preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Must be able to relocate if needed and work onsite in High Point, NC.

Compensation:

  • Base salary in the 90k - 130k/year range
