Description
This is a non-exempt, part-time position, not to exceed 1,039 work hours in a fiscal year, in which the employee performs a variety of duties to maintain and operate the Senior Center programs, events, and activities.

Under General Supervision - Incumbents at this level are given assignments and objectives that are governed by specifically outlined work methods and a sequence of steps, which are explained in general terms. The responsibility for achieving the work objectives, however, rests with a superior. Immediate supervision is not consistent, but checks are integrated into work processes and/or reviews are frequent enough to ensure compliance with instructions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Sufficient mobility, strength, and endurance to maintain the facility, and effectively monitor and control the participants involved in the program activities. Use standard office equipment (including a computer), vision to read printed materials and a computer workstation, and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone. The ability to lift at times up to 30 lbs. Must be mobile, able to sit, stoop, and climb. Some accommodations may be made for some of these physical demands for otherwise qualified individuals who require and request such accommodation.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Part-time employees are limited to working no more than 1,039 hours in any fiscal year, July 1 through June 30. Part-time employees are not eligible to receive paid leave (including pay for not working on holidays), PERS retirement, or medical/dental/vision/life insurance. Nevada does not have a state income tax. Part-time employees do not contribute to social security; however, they must contribute 7.5% of their gross pay into a FICA Alternative Plan and are also responsible for paying the 1.45% Medicare tax. Part-time employees are covered under the City's worker's compensation program.
