Overview:

Opportunity:  Catering Sales Manager

 

The Catering Sales Manager is responsible for selling and servicing their assigned catered events, with a strong emphasis on weddings and other social celebrations. This role develops individual catering business, guides clients through the planning process, coordinates event details, and partners with hotel teams to deliver memorable, high-quality events while achieving individual catering sales and service goals.

Key Responsibilities’ 

  • Manage an individual portfolio of catering business focused on weddings, rehearsal dinners, showers, milestone celebrations, reunions, galas, and other social events.
  • Generate new catering business for their assigned portfolio through prospecting, networking, community partnerships, venue and vendor relationships, referrals, and in-person client visits.
  • Respond promptly to inquiries, conduct discovery conversations and property tours, prepare proposals, negotiate terms, and close catering business.
  • Build trusted relationships with couples, families, event hosts, wedding planners, and other social-event professionals.
  • Guide clients through menu selection, room setup, timing, décor, considerations, guest experience, and other catering details. 
  • Optimize revenue for their assigned events through thoughtful upselling of food and beverage, event space, enhancements, and related services.
  • Manage contracts, deposits, payment schedules, account details, and event documentation accurately and on time.
  • Prepare and maintain Banquet Event Orders and other catering documents, ensuring all details are communicated clearly to operational teams.
  • Conduct planning meetings and final-detail reviews and remain a responsive point of contact throughout the sales and planning process.
  • Partner with culinary, banquet, and hotel teams to support seamless event execution and resolve client concerns professionally.
  • Build referral opportunities by representing their catering business at wedding showcases, community events, networking functions, and relevant industry activities.
  • Follow safe work practices and applicable standards, and perform additional duties as assigned by management.

 

Your Background and Skills

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in hospitality, event management, business, sales, or a related field preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in catering sales, including experience with weddings and social events, required.
  • Strong prospecting, relationship-building, presentation, negotiation, account management, and closing skills. 
  • Knowledge of wedding and social-event planning, catering operations, menus, Banquet Event Orders, and event timelines.
  • Excellent written, verbal, organizational, and client-service skills, with the ability to manage multiple events and priorities accurately.

 

Work Environment and Physical Requirements 

  • Schedule may vary and may include evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business and event needs.
  • Position may require extended standing and walking, as well as pushing, bending, reaching, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
