Job Summary
The Nevada Cannabis Compliance Board is hiring for a Cannabis Program Inspector 3 for its Carson City office. This position performs specialized duties for the Board, primarily focused on inspecting cannabis establishments for compliance with Cannabis Compliance Board regulations, reporting findings, and identifying violations. In addition, the role includes minor supervisory responsibilities such as overseeing other inspectors, reviewing timesheets, answering inquiries, and assessing workload distribution. The position ensures compliance with statutory obligations under AB341 and is guided by Title 53 of the NRS and the Nevada Cannabis Compliance Regulations. All assignments must be completed in accordance with Board regulations and any applicable statutes, laws, rules, procedures, or guidelines.
Cannabis Program Inspectors monitor statewide, privately owned cannabis facilities, independent testing laboratories, distributors, cannabis consumption lounges, and/or cannabis dispensaries to ensure compliance with State laws and regulations and for public health protection.
Essential Qualifications
Two or more years of applicable experience as described in the job duties and graduation from high school or equivalent education.
Job Duties
Conduct entrance meetings with facility stakeholders to explain inspection procedures, legal requirements, solicit cooperation, and obtain access to the facility and necessary information.
Perform on-site inspections of facilities and review policies and procedures, equipment, building plans, water supply, and materials.
Review processing, handling, and monitoring of product and assess quality assurance programs and patient records.
Inspect cannabis testing laboratories for compliance by reviewing testing data, practices, validations, and standard operation procedures.
Review security measures for records, controlled access, storage, transportation, and disposal of plants and products.
Document findings in reports detailing non-compliance issues, deficiencies, and recommendations for corrective action.
Assist in investigating water and foodborne illnesses linked to regulated facilities.
Identify possible vector control or public health issues, conduct sampling, analyze data, and conduct interviews to identify sources and ensure remedial actions.
Investigate complaints related to facility operations, document findings, make recommendations, and coordinate with other regulatory bodies and law enforcement agencies.
Coordinate inspection activities with relevant federal, State, and local agencies.
Respond to emergencies involving cannabis and/or cannabis products.
Present and support inspection findings and enforcement recommendations to leadership and legal representatives and testify at hearings.
Maintain program records and reports.
Ensure implementation of the inspection schedule.
Participate in the development of program policies and procedures.
Process tests that require scientific evaluation.
Act as a lead worker by assigning and reviewing work, training, and providing input to performance evaluations and discipline.
Perform related duties as assigned.
