Senior Buyer (On-site)

Our client is seeking a Senior Buyer to support spare parts purchasing for its Radford facilities. This role will manage supplier sourcing, procurement, negotiations, and supplier performance while driving cost savings and supporting long-term supply chain objectives.

• Identify, qualify, and onboard global suppliers to support business objectives and sector offset targets.
• Manage the RFQ process, evaluate supplier bids, perform cost and price analyses, negotiate terms, and make sourcing decisions.
• Develop and implement long-term sourcing strategies and supplier agreements.
• Collaborate with engineering teams and suppliers on quality improvements, cost reductions, and design changes.
• Monitor global market trends and mitigate supply shortages and pricing changes.
• Build supplier relationships and manage supplier performance throughout the procurement life cycle.
• Partner with program teams, commodity managers, and tactical buyers to develop approved sources and support purchasing needs.
• Analyze forecast data and identify innovative technologies and processes that improve margins and service delivery.
• Apply continuous improvement methods to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
• Maintain procurement compliance documentation and promptly close completed purchase orders.
• Follow applicable safety policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and four years of relevant work experience, or equivalent experience.
• Experience purchasing multiple commodities.
• Working knowledge of RFQ/RFP development, contracts, financial analysis, negotiations, and purchase order documentation.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering requirements, blueprints, schematics, and component drawings.
• Experience managing data, analytics, and reporting within an ERP system.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Strong communication, analytical, and supplier relationship management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Defense industry experience.
• Familiarity with ITAR restrictions and FAR/DFARS requirements.
• Experience with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP).
• Experience conducting supplier audits.
