JOB DESCRIPTION
 
We are seeking an experienced Business Process Engineer contractor to support a large-scale business process mapping and documentation initiative within our Operations organization.
 
The consultant will lead process discovery sessions, document complex end-to-end workflows, and help establish consistent business process documentation standards. A key component of the engagement will be coaching and training our Operations Project Team (OPT) on process mapping methodologies, facilitation techniques, and business process best practices.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
 

• Facilitate process discovery workshops with business stakeholders and subject matter experts.
• Document current-state and future-state business processes.
• Develop process maps, swimlane diagrams, workflows, and supporting documentation.
• Identify process handoffs, ownership, inputs, outputs, decision points, and system interactions.
• Identify risks, bottlenecks, and opportunities.
• Help standardize process documentation approaches, templates, and best practices.
• Coach and train OPT team members on process mapping, process analysis, and workshop facilitation techniques.
• Support knowledge transfer to enable the internal team to independently perform future process mapping efforts.

 
QUALIFICATIONS
 

• 5+ years of business process mapping or business process engineering experience.
• Insurance or financial services experience is must.
• Experience documenting operational processes across multiple teams, systems, and vendors.
• Experience training or mentoring teams on business process methodologies.
• Proven experience facilitating workshops and documenting complex operational processes.
• Ability to review existing job aids/procedures and convert them into process flows.
• Strong experience with BPMN, swim lane diagrams, workflow mapping, and process documentation.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to quickly understand and document cross-functional business processes.

 
Preferred Qualifications
 

• Lean, Six Sigma, Business Process Management (BPM), or related certifications.

• Completed documentation for prioritized operational processes.
• Delivered professional process maps and supporting documentation, including Level 0 (process landscape), Level 1 (end-to-end process maps), and Level 2 (sub-process maps) with risks, bottlenecks, and opportunities clearly documented.
• Established process mapping standards and templates.
• Trained OPT team members on process mapping and documentation best practices.
