Position Summary

We are seeking a Business Process Analyst to lead business process discovery, analysis, and improvement initiatives across a diverse portfolio of operational projects. This role partners closely with executive sponsors, business leaders, subject matter experts (SMEs), and cross-functional project teams to identify business challenges, document current-state processes, define future-state solutions, and deliver actionable recommendations that improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
The ideal candidate is an experienced business analyst with strong facilitation skills who excels at guiding stakeholders through discovery sessions, conducting gap analyses, mapping complex workflows, and developing process improvement recommendations. This is a highly collaborative role focused on business operations rather than technical system implementation.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead discovery sessions with business stakeholders to identify business problems, operational challenges, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Facilitate workshops and meetings with executive sponsors, project owners, SMEs, functional leaders, and cross-functional teams to gather requirements and build consensus.
  • Analyze existing business processes to document current-state workflows and identify process gaps, bottlenecks, risks, and inefficiencies.
  • Partner with stakeholders to define future-state business processes and operational improvements aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Develop comprehensive process documentation, including:
    • Process maps
    • Workflow diagrams
    • Swim lane diagrams (Visio)
    • Business requirements documentation
    • Gap analyses
    • Process improvement recommendations
    • Definition of Done documentation
  • Conduct business process assessments and recommend operational improvements that support organizational strategy.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects with varying levels of complexity and numerous stakeholder groups.
  • Present findings, recommendations, and project updates to steering committees and executive leadership.
  • Participate in monthly steering committee meetings and communicate project status, risks, dependencies, and remediation efforts.
  • Track improvement initiatives through remediation and implementation to ensure recommendations are successfully executed.
  • Collaborate with project managers and business leaders to prioritize initiatives and maintain project momentum.
  • Support initiatives involving research administration processes, grant administration, agreements management, compliance, research operations, and other operational workflows that enable research projects.
  • Ensure documentation is complete, accurate, and aligned with business objectives.
 
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Public Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Business Process Analyst, Process Improvement Analyst, or similar role.
  • Demonstrated experience leading multiple complex business process improvement projects simultaneously.
  • Strong experience facilitating meetings and workshops with executive leadership, SMEs, business owners, and cross-functional teams.
  • Proven ability to define business problems, assess current-state operations, and develop future-state process recommendations.
  • Experience conducting:
    • Business process analysis
    • Gap analysis
    • Workflow analysis
    • Process documentation
    • Requirements gathering
  • Experience creating process maps, workflow diagrams, and swim lane diagrams using Microsoft Visio.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level presentations.
