Overview

The Apps & Agents organization is hiring a Senior Business Manager as part of our Apps & Agents Executive office. This exciting and critical role is focused on driving the headcount, budget, and annual financial planning process for a large and dynamic CVP-led organization. Strong management of all aspects of our financial portfolio enables us to have the greatest impact for our customers and Microsoft. This role works closely with CVP's Chief of Staff, Finance, Global Talent Acquisition, and is an important member of our Business Operations community.

A passion for embracing AI as a key tool to drive process optimization and improvement, reporting, an eye for detail, very strong collaboration skills, and a desire to identify strategic insights are key to success in this role. This position is based in Redmond, Washington and requires the employee to be in the office a minimum of 3 days per week.

Responsibilities

People budget management

The Sr. Business Manager is responsible for managing the overall budget for an aligned CVP leader & team, in partnership with central business management leader, including setting targets, reporting, auditing, and metrics. Workstreams include: Funded headcount and PCN reconciliation, geo conversions, budget transfers and adjustments, reporting for the leadership team and Chief of Staff team.

Non-people budget management

This team has a significant non-people budget that requires active oversight, monitoring, and controls- along with detail-oriented planning and preparation on an annual basis. This requires very close collaboration with chief of staff, PO owners, administrative staff- including onboarding, documentation, and regular reviews to ensure tight budget management.

Reporting & Insights

This role drives regular and ad hoc reporting, including leveraging Finance reports and tools, Power BI, and creating presentations for the LT. Identifying and deriving insights and opportunities is a key component of the role.

Additional responsibilities and opportunities

As part of the Apps & Agents executive office, additional programs and initiatives, related to business operations will arise that will add to the breadth and scope of the role. We operate as an integrated team with both vertical and horizontal responsibilities. The scope of this role is 80/20 aligned vertically (one leader & team) / horizontal (supporting the organization broadly)

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in relevant field (e.g., Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Management, Computer Science) AND 6+ years experience in financial management, business planning, operations management, strategy, project management, human resources, or business-related roles
  • OR equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in relevant field (e.g., Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Management, Computer Science) AND 8+ years experience in financial management, business planning, operations management, strategy, project management, human resources, or business-related roles

  • OR Bachelors Degree in relevant field (e.g., Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Management, Computer Science) AND 12+ years experience in financial management, business planning, operations management, strategy, project management, human resources, or business-related roles

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 4+ years experience in financial management, business planning, operations management, strategy, project management, human resources, or business-related roles.

  • Demonstrated organizational experience, managing multiple projects with different deliverables and timelines simultaneously.

  • Ability to create and maintain positive relationships, influence and collaborate internally and externally.

  • Experience leveraging AI tools and processes.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate details and data into clear strategy for varied audiences.

  • Experience with Power BI.

Business Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $116,900 - $203,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $148,400 - $222,600 per year.
