Senior Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst

Job Description

The Sr. Business Intelligence Analyst will work with Risk / Credit Admin / Credit Risk / Model Dev team leaders and specialists to understand business goals and needs and translate these into requirements and solution designs with a focus on driving business value and positive outcomes. This role is responsible for developing consistent and coherent sets of requirements for analytical tools – requirements, design, validation, implementation, and control designs for business partners (e.g. portfolio stress testing, deposit forecasting, loan portfolio analysis, etc.).  

In this role, the incumbent will take lead analyst roles in BI projects driving requirements definitions, documentation efforts and as necessary report creation, queries, etc. to support business team needs. This role is integral as a liaison among stakeholders and project teams helping to enhance Data team performance

Essential Functions

•     Interview stakeholders to understand business goals and needs, formulate technical requirements, which satisfy the business requests, document requirements and solution designs with a focus on ensuring developers have all the information necessary to complete build / test.  
• Activities range from analytical tool design, some report development, implementation, and control designs used for understanding risk, credit portfolios and deposits, such as portfolio stress testing, marketing opportunities, accounting, concentration correlation analyses, etc.
•     Interview stakeholders to identify business needs and translate these into requirements and solution designs with a focus on driving business value and positive outcomes.Interview users to understand how they do their jobs and what they need from data systems to improve performance, deliver on functional enhancements, monitor portfolios, etc.
•     Analyze business processes, recommend changes that improve outcomes, influence stakeholders to build consensus, and implement approved changesSupport business partner usage of the Data Environment through helping business partners learn data table and content, Power B/I, using Azure; that will begin the development of a data culture at Northwest
•     Build and / or maintain Documentation Librar(ies) and Catalog(s) to ensure that such documentation is available upon request by management, regulators, and internal and external auditorsMonitor data environment builds, executions, execution run-times, change developments, change implementations, and workplans.
•     Develop quantitative modeling other than CECL, such as loss forecasting, predictive risk rating models, stress testing, and profitability analysis.Take the lead in developing and implementing predictive analytical tools, ad hoc analyses, visual/interactive reporting, segmentation analysis, and process automation. Identify the problem, provide potential solutions, and design the model construct
•     Translate business goals, user needs and process improvements into data management functions and requirementsExplain the value, capabilities and limitations of data systems to business managers and users as the project is designed and built
•     Lead individual and group project designs, wireframes, and mockups of analytic dashboards, visualizations, scorecards, stack rankings, and reports, and provide approved technical specifications to developersAnalyze and structure data to implement enterprise data management goals of identifying, storing, processing, provisioning and governing data
•     Ensure data quality by validating data to assess fitness for use, identifying and directing remediation of issues, and completing quality assurance testingFollow Data Governance procedures to ensure that data and data based processes are appropriately managed
•     Work with Enterprise data warehouse, analytical cubes, metadata and master data management to provide business insights for decision makingAnalyze and complete project requests
•     Troubleshoot and resolve data issuesAdditional Essential FunctionsEnsure compliance with Northwest’s policies and procedures, and Federal/State regulations
•     Navigate Microsoft Office Software, computer applications, and software specific to the department in order to maximize technology tools and gain efficiencyWork as part of a team

• Finance, Statistics or Quantitative OrBachelor's Degree    Finance, Statistics, Quantitative field or Information Technology required and experience in credit administration, CECL, and data OrWork Experience 6 - 8 years    Business Intelligence Analyst, Data Analyst, Business analyst or equivalent And3 - 5 years    Banking or Financial Institution experience And2 - 3 years    Credit / Current Expected Credit Loss / Credit Portfolio Monitoring And2 - 3 years    Knowledge of SQL, Power/BI, Python, R         General Employee Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
•     Ability to establish effective working relationships among team members and participate in solving problems and making decisions    
•     Ability to present and express ideas and information clearly and concisely in a manner appropriate to the audience, whether oral or written

•     Ability to analyze data using Microsoft Excel or any other equivalent tool  
•     Ability to analyze data using SQL and Microsoft Power BI. Ability to analyze and document requirements 
•     Ability to analyze, design and develop reports, scorecards and dashboards  
•     Knowledge working with any data warehouse system and is any master data management (MDM) system    
•     Knowledge of working with any customer relationship management (CRM) system e.g. Dynamics CRM, etc and Microsoft SharePoint  
• Licenses and Certifications   CBAP (or equivalent)     Upon Hire And Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate or equivalent within 1 year Or Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate orMicrosoft Certified: Azure Data Scientist Associate or equivalent within 1 year    Additional Licenses and CertificationsCompletion of Certifications within 1 Year
