The Senior Business Development Officer is a relationship‑driven professional responsible for developing and maintaining strong relationships with business and non‑profit members in Springfield Missouri and the surrounding 4-state area. This role focuses on consultative business development, community engagement, deposit and treasury solutions, and coordination of business lending opportunities in partnership with internal lending and credit teams. Success in this role is measured by relationship growth, member satisfaction, community presence, and alignment with AGCU's values, risk standards, and growth objectives.
EssentialFunctions and Responsibilities
Serve as a primary relationship partner for business and non‑profit members seeking deposit, treasury, and lending solutions through referrals, networking and chamber events, and community activities.
Build trust‑based relationships by understanding member goals and recommending appropriate AGCU products and services.
Cross‑sell and refer members to internal business partners for lending, treasury management, merchant services, and digital banking solutions.
Coordinate business lending opportunities by assisting with information gathering and collaborating with underwriting and credit teams through the application and closing process.
Maintain an active presence in the local market.
Maintain solid awareness of local economic conditions and business trends, providing feedback to business banking leadership.
Assist business owners with initial onboarding by coordinating introductions to branch staff and internal support teams.
Support internal teams and by providing clear communication, follow‑up, and relationship continuity for business members.
Provide training and informal coaching to branch staff on business referral opportunities, product positioning, and relationship development best practices.
Ensure all activities follow internal policies, regulatory guidelines, and AGCU risk standards. Work with Risk Management as needed to address concerns.
Compensation Structure
This role is exempt and performance-based, with compensation that includes commission and incentive plan tied to revenue generation and business growth.
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree required; degree in Business, Finance, or a related field preferred.
Three to five years of experience in business development, relationhip management, banking, financial services, or professional sales.
Proven success developing relationships through networking, referrals, and community involvment.
Experience collaborating across teams to deliver customized solutions.
Training, coaching, or onboarding experience is strongly preferred.
Knowledge of business banking products preferred.
Knowledge of CRM or account management systems preferred.

Hybrid work model requiring work in the field as well as consistent in-office days.

Occasional lifting of materials up to 50 pounds may be required during events or travel.
